Korean Skin Treatments in Myeongdong vs Singapore: Costs, Options and Recovery Planning — a guide for visitors in Myeongdong, Seoul.
Quick answer

Singapore and Seoul both offer high-quality aesthetic medicine, but Seoul is known for its dense clinic market, wide choice of Korean devices and boosters, and competitive pricing on popular treatments. Whether a Seoul trip saves money depends on the plan, travel costs and follow-up needs. The flight is about six hours, so allow time for swelling to settle before flying home. At Dernia Clinic Myeongdong, Ulthera Prime is ₩1,390,000 for a 400-line full face, Rejuran Healer ₩259,000 for 2cc and Botox from ₩39,000 per area (excluding 10% VAT).

Flight time About 6 hours Singapore to Seoul
Seoul strengths Wide device and booster choice, competitive market
Cost comparison Compare identical plans plus travel
Recovery buffer 2–3 days before flying for injectables
Myeongdong access Line 4, Line 2; AREX via Seoul Station
Dernia price from ₩39,000 (Botox, 1 area)

Prices are in Korean won, exclude 10% VAT and are confirmed by a doctor at consultation. Travel times are approximate.

Why do Singapore visitors book skin treatments in Seoul?

Singapore has a well-regulated aesthetic sector with many experienced doctors. Even so, Seoul has become a popular choice for Singaporeans combining a holiday with skin care. Seoul's clinic market is very dense and competitive, Korean devices and boosters are widely available, and clinics in areas such as Myeongdong are used to planning around a visitor's flight date. Direct flights also make Seoul an easy long-weekend or week-long trip.

We do not quote other clinics' or other countries' prices here, because they change and depend on many factors. Instead, this guide explains how to compare fairly and how to plan recovery so a treatment fits comfortably into your trip.

How do Seoul and Singapore compare in general?

Factor Seoul (Myeongdong) Singapore
Clinic market Very dense; strong competition on popular treatments Well-regulated; fewer clinics overall
Korean devices and boosters Widely available Availability varies by clinic and approvals
Language English consultations at visitor-focused clinics English widely used
Prices Often competitive; depend on brand, dose and VAT Depend on clinic and product
Follow-up Requires return trip or local doctor Easy if you live in Singapore
Climate on your trip Varies by season, from humid summers to cold, dry winters Hot and humid year-round

Which Korean treatments are popular with Singapore visitors?

  • Lifting: Ulthera Prime, Shurink Universe, Thermage FLX and Oligio X.
  • Skin boosters: Rejuran Healer, Juvelook, Skinvive and HA boosters.
  • Pigment and tone: pico toning and laser toning, often for melasma and sun damage common in tropical climates.
  • Injectables: wrinkle Botox, jaw Botox and dermal filler.
  • Texture: Potenza RF microneedling and pico fractional for pores and acne scars.

Dernia does not currently offer Sofwave, PDRN injections or surgical procedures. Ask at consultation about alternatives with a similar goal.

How much do Korean skin treatments cost in Myeongdong (2026)?

Thermage FLX 600 shots full face ₩1,690,000

How to compare the true cost

A fair comparison includes more than the treatment price:

  • Identical plans. Same device or brand, same shots, lines, units or cc.
  • Tax. Dernia's prices exclude 10% VAT, and the tourist refund no longer applies.
  • Travel. Flights, hotel nights and time away.
  • Series and maintenance. One-session treatments suit travel better than long series.
  • Follow-up. Who will review you after you return to Singapore.

For single-session lifting, a Seoul holiday can offer good value. For long series such as melasma toning, you may prefer to start in Seoul and continue at home. If you visit Korea regularly, a series can also be spread across trips, with sessions timed to each visit and home sun protection in between. Ask the doctor which approach suits your concern.

Recovery planning around a six-hour flight

Cabin air is dry, and sitting still for six hours can make facial swelling a little more noticeable. Planning treatment days carefully makes the trip home more comfortable.

Fine a day or two before flying

  • Ultrasound or RF lifting
  • Wrinkle Botox (avoid pressing the area)
  • Pico or laser toning
  • Hydrafacial or LDM Water Drop

Plan earlier in your stay

  • Fillers, especially lips and under-eyes
  • Skin boosters with bumps for 1–3 days
  • Potenza, pico fractional or CO2 lasers
  • Any first-time treatment

Read flying after Botox, fillers and boosters.

A sample 6-day Seoul plan

  1. Day 1. Arrive and rest; avoid treatments on arrival day.
  2. Day 2. English consultation in Myeongdong, then injectables or texture treatments that need the most recovery.
  3. Day 3. Lifting such as Ulthera Prime or Thermage FLX.
  4. Day 4. Sightseeing and shopping with sunscreen; return if you have questions.
  5. Day 5. Gentle toning or Hydrafacial if desired.
  6. Day 6. Fly home with moisturizer and sunscreen in your hand luggage.

Results timeline: what you will see in Seoul vs at home

Many Korean treatments peak after you return to Singapore, so it is worth knowing what to expect and when:

  • Botox: begins working in two to five days and reaches full effect at about two weeks.
  • Ulthera Prime: a gradual lift over two to three months, usually lasting about a year or longer.
  • Thermage FLX: firmer, smoother skin building over two to six months, commonly lasting 12–18 months.
  • Rejuran Healer: improved texture over several weeks, best after a short series.
  • Pico toning: brighter tone after a few sessions; melasma usually needs ongoing maintenance and strict sun protection, which matters even more in Singapore's year-round sun.

Take photos in the same light before treatment and at two weeks, one month and three months. Keep your written treatment record so that a doctor in Singapore can continue care safely if needed. See the Ulthera Prime results timeline for an example.

Sun protection back home

Returning to a tropical climate after lasers means extra care. Use a broad-spectrum, high-SPF sunscreen daily, reapply when outdoors, and consider a hat and shade for the first few weeks. Heat and humidity can also make skin feel more reactive after boosters, so keep skincare simple until it settles.

Is it safe? Side effects and risks

Korean clinics use approved products and devices, but no treatment is risk-free. Expect temporary redness, swelling, bumps and possible bruising. Uncommon risks include burns or pigment changes after lasers, nodules after collagen stimulators, temporary droop after Botox and, with fillers, rare vascular occlusion that needs urgent treatment. Darker or tanned skin types may have a higher risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation after some lasers, so conservative settings matter. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, active infections and some medicines may mean postponing. A licensed doctor should confirm suitability and give you a written treatment record. Planning your treatment trip from Singapore

  • Book ahead. Send your dates and concerns through our consultation form.
  • Check entry rules. See the K-ETA and e-Arrival Card checklist.
  • Getting here. From Incheon, AREX to Seoul Station, then Line 4 two stops to Myeongdong; Dernia is also near Euljiro 1-ga Station (Line 2). See location and directions.
  • Season matters. Seoul winters are cold and dry, so pack a richer moisturizer if you have lasers in winter.

Flying home after treatment? Drink water, avoid alcohol on the plane, keep a gentle moisturizer and sunscreen in your carry-on, and avoid pressing your face against a pillow after injections. Our aftercare guide has the full checklist.
