Myeongdong vs Gangnam Skin Clinics: Prices, Treatments and Convenience — Myeongdong, Seoul
Myeongdong vs Gangnam Skin Clinics: Prices, Treatments and Convenience — a guide for visitors in Myeongdong, Seoul.
Quick answer

Both Myeongdong and Gangnam have doctor-led skin clinics offering the same core Korean treatments, from Botox and fillers to lasers and lifting devices. Gangnam is Seoul's best-known aesthetic district with a very large number of clinics, while Myeongdong is in central Seoul, close to many visitor hotels, shopping streets and transport links. Prices in both areas vary more by clinic than by district, so compare the exact product, units and VAT. Dernia Clinic Myeongdong lists its prices openly, for example Botox from ₩39,000 per area, excluding 10% VAT.

Myeongdong Central Seoul, Jung-gu
Gangnam South of the Han River
Prices Vary more by clinic than by area
Myeongdong access Line 4 and Line 2 nearby
Travel between Roughly 30–40 min by subway
Dernia Botox From ₩39,000 per area

Prices are in Korean won, exclude 10% VAT and are confirmed by a doctor at consultation.

Myeongdong vs Gangnam: which is better for skin treatments?

There is no single best area. Gangnam, south of the Han River, is Seoul's best-known aesthetic district and has a very high concentration of clinics, including many focused on cosmetic surgery. Myeongdong, in Jung-gu in central Seoul, is the city's classic shopping and tourism district, with many hotels within walking distance. Both areas have doctor-led clinics offering mainstream Korean skin treatments. For most visitors, the better choice depends on where you are staying, how much time you have and what kind of treatment you want.

How do prices compare between Myeongdong and Gangnam?

In practice, price differences in Seoul depend far more on the individual clinic than on the district. Both areas include clinics at different price points. What changes the price you pay is usually the product or device, the number of shots, lines or cc, the toxin or filler brand, whether VAT is included, and which add-ons are bundled. Because of this, comparing a single headline number between two areas is rarely meaningful.

At Dernia Clinic Myeongdong, our prices are listed publicly so you can compare like for like. A few examples from our 2026 price list:

Treatment at Dernia Starting option Price (KRW)
Wrinkle Botox (Korean toxin) One area ₩39,000
Jaw Botox (Korean toxin) Both sides ₩59,000
Pico toning One full-face session ₩69,000
Rejuran Healer 2cc, full face ₩259,000
Ulthera Prime 100 lines ₩390,000
Thermage FLX 300 shots ₩990,000

Prices exclude 10% VAT and are confirmed at consultation. The tourist VAT refund on cosmetic procedures ended on January 1, 2026; see VAT refund changes in 2026. Full lists are on our prices page.

How to compare quotes across districts

  • Same product. Compare Thermage FLX with Thermage FLX, or a Korean toxin with a Korean toxin, not different brands or generations.
  • Same units. Shots with shots, lines with lines, cc with cc and the same treatment area.
  • VAT-inclusive totals. Some clinics quote before VAT and some after. Convert everything to a total including 10% VAT.
  • Included extras. Check whether numbing, soothing care and follow-up are part of the price.
  • Travel cost and time. A slightly lower price across the city may not be worth an extra hour of travel each way, especially if you need a review visit.

Treatment range: what can you get in each area?

Gangnam is known for its breadth, including surgical clinics for procedures such as facial bone contouring and implants. If you are specifically seeking surgery, Gangnam has many surgical specialists. Dernia Clinic Myeongdong is a non-surgical dermatology and aesthetic clinic: we do not offer surgical facelifts, chin implants or other surgery.

For non-surgical skin treatments, both areas offer the core Korean menu: Botox and fillers, skin boosters such as Rejuran and Juvelook, lasers for pigment and texture, and lifting devices such as Ulthera, Thermage and Shurink. At Dernia you can see the full list on our treatments page, or start with our guide to the best skin treatments for a short trip.

Convenience for visitors: location, transport and time

Traveling between Myeongdong and Gangnam usually takes roughly 30–40 minutes by subway, longer by taxi at peak times. If your hotel is in central Seoul, a clinic in Myeongdong means less time commuting and easier follow-up visits. If you are staying south of the river, Gangnam may be more convenient. A sample treatment day in Myeongdong

Many visitors staying in central Seoul fit a clinic visit into a normal sightseeing day. A typical plan might be a morning consultation and treatment, lunch nearby, an afternoon walk up to Namsan or through Namdaemun Market, and K-beauty shopping in the evening, all within a short distance of the hotel. For treatments with little downtime, such as Botox, toning or a skin booster, this kind of day is common. For treatments with more swelling or redness, the doctor may advise a quieter afternoon. Being close to your hotel makes either option easier.

English support and the patient experience

English support varies by clinic in both districts. Some clinics rely on interpreters or coordinators; others have doctors who consult directly in English. Wherever you book, ask whether your consultation is with a licensed doctor, whether aftercare instructions are in English, and who to contact after you go home. At Dernia, consultations, treatment plans and written aftercare are provided in English. See do you offer English consultations.

Is it safe to have treatments in either area?

Korean aesthetic medicine is well developed in both districts, but safety depends on the clinic and the practitioner, not the neighborhood. Every treatment carries some risk, from temporary redness and swelling to rare complications such as burns from devices or vascular occlusion from filler. Choose a clinic where a doctor examines you, explains risks plainly and confirms your suitability. See side effects and when to contact us.
