Educational content, not medical advice

Our treatment pages , guides , answers to patient questions and price information are written to help you understand your options and prepare good questions. They are general information. They are not medical advice, a diagnosis or a treatment plan, and they do not replace an in-person consultation with a doctor.

  • Do not start, stop or change any medication or treatment because of something you read on this website.
  • Do not delay seeing a doctor because of something you read here.
  • If you have a medical condition, take regular medication, or are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your own doctor before planning treatment abroad.

Reading this website, messaging us or submitting the consultation form does not make you our patient. See our Terms of Use for details.

Suitability is decided in person by a licensed doctor

At Dernia Clinic Myeongdong, treatments are performed by licensed medical doctors, and every treatment starts with a consultation. Your doctor will ask about and assess:

  • your medical history, allergies and previous treatments
  • medications and supplements, including blood thinners and isotretinoin
  • pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • active skin infections, cold sores or inflammation in the treatment area
  • your skin type, the concern you want treated and your travel schedule

Based on this, your doctor may recommend a different treatment, a gentler setting, a smaller amount, a delay, or no treatment at all. That decision is made for your safety and is part of good care. Read how a visit works , learn about our medical team , and prepare with our appointment checklist and questions to ask at your consultation .

Every procedure carries risks and side effects

All medical and aesthetic procedures, including non-surgical ones, carry risks. Your doctor will explain the risks that apply to your treatment before you give consent.

Common and usually temporary

  • Redness, swelling and warmth
  • Bruising or tenderness at injection sites
  • Mild itching, dryness or flaking
  • Small bumps or a feeling of tightness after injections or energy-based treatments

Less common

  • Temporary darkening or lightening of the skin (pigment changes), especially after laser treatment and in darker skin types
  • Blistering, burns or crusting after laser or energy-based treatments
  • Infection, cold sore flare-ups or acne flares
  • Lumps, nodules or asymmetry after injectables
  • Allergic reactions

Rare but serious

  • Scarring
  • For dermal fillers, blockage of a blood vessel (vascular occlusion), which can damage the skin and, very rarely, affect vision. This needs urgent treatment.

Our aftercare guidance and the guide to normal side effects and when to contact the clinic explain what to expect. Some people should avoid or delay certain treatments; see who should avoid or delay lifting treatments for one example.

Results vary, and no outcome is guaranteed

How your skin responds depends on many things: your age, skin type and condition, general health, genetics, sun exposure, smoking, how closely you follow aftercare, and whether you complete a recommended course. Two people having the same treatment can see different results.

  • Results timelines on this website, such as those in our results guides , describe typical patterns, not what will happen for you.
  • Many treatments need more than one session, and most results fade over time and need maintenance.
  • "From" prices are starting points. Your price is confirmed in writing at your consultation; see our prices .

We do not promise or guarantee any particular result. If you are unhappy with how your skin is responding after treatment at Dernia, contact us so your doctor can review it.

Emergencies and urgent concerns

In a medical emergency in Korea, call 119 for an ambulance. If you are outside Korea, call your local emergency number.

Seek urgent medical help, and then tell the clinic that treated you, if you notice any of these after a treatment:

  • difficulty breathing or swallowing, or swelling of the lips, tongue, face or throat
  • skin that turns white, gray, blue or mottled, or severe pain, after a filler injection
  • any change in your vision after an injection to the face
  • fever, spreading redness, warmth or pus around a treated area
  • severe or rapidly worsening pain, swelling or blistering

For concerns that are not emergencies, contact the clinic that treated you. If you were treated at Dernia, contact us and tell us which treatment you had and when. Before you fly home, make sure you know how to reach the clinic. Our guide to flying after Botox, fillers and skin boosters covers what to watch for while you travel.

How we write and review our content

  • Medical review: Treatment, results and aftercare content is reviewed by the Dernia Clinic Myeongdong medical team, and each page shows when it was last updated.
  • Expert reviews, not patient reviews: The reviews on this website are editorial assessments written by our medical team. They are not patient testimonials.
  • No patient testimonials, ratings or before-and-after photos: Korean medical advertising law restricts these, and as a new clinic opening soon, we do not have any. We describe typical, realistic outcomes instead.
  • Balanced information: We explain who a treatment suits, who should avoid it and what its downsides are, and we set options side by side in our treatment comparisons .
  • Illustrative images: Photos on this website are illustrative and do not show our patients.
  • Brands and devices: Product and device names are trademarks of their owners. Mentioning them does not mean we are endorsed by or affiliated with those companies.
  • Corrections: If something looks wrong or out of date, please let us know .
