Getting to Myeongdong by subway
Seoul's subway is the easiest way to reach Myeongdong from most parts of the city. Two stations serve the area, on two different lines.
Myeongdong Station (Line 4)
Line 4, shown in light blue on subway maps, runs through Seoul Station and Dongdaemun History & Culture Park. It is the natural choice if you arrive on the airport train at Seoul Station or are staying around Dongdaemun. The station opens straight onto the Myeongdong shopping streets.
Euljiro 1-ga Station (Line 2)
Line 2, shown in green, is Seoul's circle line and connects areas such as Hongdae, Gangnam and Jamsil. Euljiro 1-ga Station sits on the northern edge of Myeongdong, beside the Lotte Department Store main store and one stop from City Hall.
Tips for getting around
- Rechargeable transit cards such as T-money work on the subway and buses and are sold at convenience stores and station machines.
- Korean map apps such as Naver Map and KakaoMap usually give more detailed walking and transit directions in Seoul than international map apps.
- Station exit numbers matter in Seoul. We will share the closest exit when our address is published.
From the airport
Getting from Incheon Airport to Myeongdong
Most international visitors arrive at Incheon International Airport. Allow about an hour or more to reach Myeongdong, depending on traffic and the route you choose.
Option 1: Airport train (AREX) and subway
- At the airport, follow the signs for the Airport Railroad (AREX).
- Take AREX to Seoul Station, the end of the line. Both the non-stop Express train and the All-Stop train go there.
- At Seoul Station, transfer to subway Line 4.
- Ride Line 4 two stops, via Hoehyeon, to Myeongdong Station.
Because it runs on rail, this route is not affected by road traffic.

Option 3: Taxi
Taxis wait outside the arrivals hall and take you door to door, but journey time depends heavily on traffic, so allow extra time at busy hours.
Our step-by-step guide to getting from Incheon Airport to Myeongdong covers each option in more detail. Before you fly, check entry requirements in our K-ETA and e-Arrival Card checklist for 2026 .
