How It Works: Your Visit to Dernia Clinic Myeongdong, Step by Step

From your first message to follow-up after you fly home, here is what happens when you visit Dernia Clinic Myeongdong. Nothing is done until a doctor has assessed your skin and you have agreed to the plan and price in writing.

In short: A visit to Dernia Clinic Myeongdong follows nine steps: enquiry, booking, arrival and registration with your passport, a skin assessment and English consultation with a licensed doctor, a written plan and price in KRW, numbing and treatment, soothing care, written aftercare and follow-up by message. The doctor consultation itself usually takes 15 to 30 minutes.

The patient journey

Nine steps from first message to follow-up

Every patient follows the same clear path, whether you come for a single laser session or a full treatment package .

Step 1

Send an enquiry

Tell us your concerns, the treatments you are curious about, your travel dates and any relevant medical history through our consultation form . Photos of your skin in natural light help us understand your goals.

Step 2

Book your appointment

We suggest a time that fits your itinerary and confirm it with you. Book ahead where you can, since walk-ins depend on availability. If your plans change, let us know as early as possible.

Step 3

Arrive and register

Arrive a few minutes early with your passport. We register you, open your medical record and ask you to complete a short medical history form in English. You will be asked to remove makeup before your assessment.

Step 4

Skin assessment and doctor consultation

A licensed medical doctor examines your skin and talks through your goals, history and schedule in English, including what each option can and cannot do. Bring your questions for the consultation .

Step 5

Plan and price in writing

Before any treatment, you receive your plan in writing: treatments, dose or shot count, number of sessions and the total price in KRW, excluding 10% VAT. You can accept it, change it or take time to think.

Step 6

Numbing and treatment

Where needed, numbing cream is applied, usually for 20 to 30 minutes. Your doctor then performs the treatment. You can ask to see the sealed product or device tip first, and ask for a pause at any time.

Step 7

Soothing care

Your skin is calmed with cooling, a soothing mask or a calming product suited to the treatment. Many people go straight back to sightseeing, though some treatments leave redness or swelling for hours or days.

Step 8

Aftercare instructions

Before you leave, we explain your aftercare and give it to you in writing: skincare, sun protection, makeup, exercise, alcohol and flying, plus the signs that mean you should contact us. See our aftercare guide .

Step 9

Follow-up by message

You can message us with questions or photos after treatment, including after you fly home, and a doctor will review them. For treatment series, we plan your next session around your next trip.

Timing

How long each visit takes

Times depend on the treatment, whether numbing cream is needed and how many treatments you combine. These are typical totals for a first visit, including registration, consultation and soothing care. Return visits are shorter because the consultation is already done.

  • Consultation only: about 45 to 60 minutes in total. The doctor consultation itself usually takes 15 to 30 minutes. See how long does a consultation take?
  • Consultation plus a quick treatment such as wrinkle Botox or laser toning : about 1 to 1.5 hours.
  • Consultation plus a skin booster or RF microneedling such as Rejuran Healer or Potenza : about 1.5 to 2 hours, because numbing cream needs time to work.
  • Consultation plus a lifting treatment such as Thermage FLX or Ulthera Prime : about 2 to 3 hours.
  • Combination or package day: plan for half a day, and keep the evening free in case of redness or swelling.

First time in Korea?

If this is your first visit to a Korean skin clinic

Korean skin clinics can feel different from clinics at home. Treatment menus are long, prices are often quoted per shot, line, unit or cc, and several treatments are commonly combined in one visit. At Dernia, your doctor explains each of these in plain English before you decide anything. Our guide to shots, lines and cc is worth reading before you arrive.

What you can always count on

  • You see your plan and price in writing before any treatment starts.
  • No extra treatments are added on the day without your agreement.
  • You are never pressured to decide on the spot.
  • You can ask to see the sealed product or device tip before treatment.

FAQ

Questions about your visit

More answers are in our patient FAQ . Visiting from abroad? Read our international patients guide .

  • Can I have treatment on the same day as my consultation?

Often, yes, if the doctor confirms the treatment is suitable for you and there is time in the schedule. Mention when you book that you would like same-day treatment so we can allow enough time.

  • Do I have to decide on the day?

No. You can take your written plan and price away, think it over and come back later in your trip, or on your next visit to Seoul.

  • Does treatment hurt?

Most treatments are well tolerated. Numbing cream is used for many injections, skin boosters and energy treatments, and your doctor can adjust settings for comfort. See Does Thermage FLX hurt? and Does Rejuran hurt?

  • When can I wear makeup afterward?

It depends on the treatment. After gentle laser toning, many people can wear makeup the next day. After injections, microneedling or ablative laser, wait as long as your doctor advises. See When can I wear makeup after laser treatment?

  • Do I need a follow-up visit?

Not always. After Botox or filler, a check at around two weeks is ideal if you are still in Seoul. If you have already flown home, send us clear photos by message and a doctor will review them.

  • What if I need to change my appointment?

Tell us as early as you can, and we will look for another time that still fits your itinerary. Any booking terms will be confirmed when you book.
