Why your questions matter
A good consultation is a two-way conversation. The doctor examines your skin and explains options; you make sure the plan fits your goals, your health and your trip. At Dernia Clinic Myeongdong, consultations are in English with a licensed medical doctor and usually take 15–30 minutes. Save this list on your phone, and don't worry about asking too much.
Before you arrive
- Write down your top three concerns in order of priority.
- Note your travel dates and any flights or events coming up.
- List your medicines, supplements and allergies.
- Gather details of past treatments: product, amount and date.
- Decide on a budget range, so the doctor can prioritize.
1. Your skin and the diagnosis
- What do you see as the main cause of my concern?
- Is there more than one issue, such as melasma alongside sun spots?
- Is anything here a medical issue to check before cosmetic treatment?
The right treatment depends on the right diagnosis. Pigment is a good example; see pigmentation types explained.
2. The recommended treatment
- Why this treatment for me, and what are the alternatives?
- What result is realistic, and what won't it change?
- How many sessions will I need, and how far apart?
- Can it be combined with anything else today?
Compare options in our treatment comparisons and read combining treatments in one visit.
3. The product, device and dose
- Which device, brand or product will you use?
- How many shots, lines, units or cc, and why that amount?
- Can I see the sealed tip or product box?
- Is the toxin or filler Korean or imported?
Units differ by treatment; read shots, lines and cc explained and our guides to toxin brands and filler brands.
4. Safety
- Who will perform the treatment?
- What are the common side effects, and the rare serious ones?
- Is anything in my history a reason to change or delay the plan?
- What happens if there is a complication?
Bring a list of medicines, allergies and previous treatments. Considering lifting? Read who should avoid or delay lifting treatments.
5. Downtime and your trip
- What will I look like tonight, tomorrow and in three days?
- When can I fly, exercise, drink alcohol or wear makeup?
- Is there anything to avoid while sightseeing?
See flying after Botox and fillers.
6. Cost
- What is the total price, including 10% VAT?
- What is included: numbing, soothing care, follow-up?
- What would a full course cost?
- Which payment methods can I use?
Prices are in Korean won (KRW), exclude 10% VAT, and are confirmed at your consultation. There is no VAT refund on cosmetic procedures since January 1, 2026; see payment and tax.
7. Aftercare and follow-up
- What should I do and avoid for the next week?
- What is normal, and what should prompt me to contact you?
- How do I reach the clinic after I fly home?
- If I can't finish a series, how do I continue?
See normal side effects vs when to contact the clinic and what if I can't finish a series.
8. Treatment-specific questions
Lifting with HIFU or RF
- How many shots or lines, and at which depths?
- Is the tip new and genuine, and can I see the counter at the end?
- When will I see the result, and how long should it last?
Toxin, filler and boosters
- Which brand, and how much in each area?
- What happens if I don't like the result?
- When is the best time for a review or top-up?
Lasers
- Which laser, and why this one for my skin type?
- How many sessions, and how far apart?
- What should I avoid in the sun afterward?
Read about each option in our treatments section and in how long lifting results last.
9. About the clinic
- Who are the doctors, and what are their backgrounds?
- How are devices maintained and consumables sourced?
