Shots, Lines and cc: How Korean Clinics Price Treatments

Quick answer: Korean clinics price by dose: shots for RF and HIFU devices like Thermage or Shurink, lines for Ulthera, units or areas for toxin, cc for fillers and boosters, and joules for Onda. At Dernia Clinic Myeongdong, for example, Thermage FLX starts from ₩990,000 for 300 shots and Ulthera Prime from ₩390,000 for 100 lines (KRW, VAT excluded).

Why Korean price lists look different

Many visitors are surprised to see prices quoted as 300 shots, 100 lines or 2cc rather than one price per treatment. Korean clinics price by dose, because the amount of energy or product used drives both the cost and the result. Once you understand the units, comparing quotes is much easier. At Dernia Clinic Myeongdong, your doctor recommends a dose after examining you, and the quote shows exactly what is included.

The units at a glance

Unit What it measures Used for Example at Dernia

Lines Rows of focused ultrasound points Ulthera Prime From ₩390,000 (100 lines)
Units or areas Toxin dose, usually sold per area Wrinkle and jaw Botox From ₩39,000 per area (Korean toxin)
cc Volume of product Fillers, Rejuran, Juvelook, HA boosters Rejuran Healer from ₩259,000 (2cc)
Vials or syringes A whole packaged product Sculptra, Lenisna, Skinvive Sculptra from ₩590,000 (1 vial)
Joules Total energy delivered Onda From ₩199,000 (30,000 J)
Sessions One treatment of a set area Lasers, facials, InMode Pico toning from ₩69,000

Shots: RF and HIFU devices

A shot is a single pulse of energy. Thermage FLX is commonly priced at 300, 600 or 900 shots, which the doctor spreads across the treatment area; more shots usually means more coverage or more passes. Korean devices such as Shurink Universe, Oligio X and Volnewmer are also priced by shots, but a shot on one device is not equivalent to a shot on another, so compare counts only within the same device. See the Thermage FLX price page.

Lines: Ulthera

Ulthera Prime delivers microfocused ultrasound in lines of tiny heat points at set depths. Prices are quoted by the number of lines, and a full-face treatment often uses several hundred. Your doctor decides how many lines go to each depth and area based on your tissue. See the Ulthera Prime price page.

Units and areas: toxin

Toxin is measured in units, but Korean clinics usually price wrinkle treatment per area, such as the forehead or crow's feet. Unit scales differ between brands, especially Dysport, so ask which brand is included. See Korean Botox brands explained.

cc, vials and syringes: injectables

Fillers and skin boosters are priced by volume, and one cc equals one milliliter. A full-face Rejuran Healer session commonly uses 2cc, while lips often need 0.5–1cc of filler. Collagen stimulators such as Sculptra are priced per vial, and Skinvive per syringe. Check whether a quote covers the whole face or a single area; our guide to HA filler brands explains why the product also matters.

Joules: Onda

Onda is priced by the total energy delivered, measured in joules, starting from 30,000 J. Larger or firmer areas need more energy.

Reading a typical quote

Suppose a quote reads: Thermage FLX, 600 shots plus eye tip, numbing and LDM included, VAT excluded. That tells you the device, the dose, the add-on area, what is included and the tax basis. A quote that only says Thermage full face leaves out the dose, so ask for the shot count. The same applies to Ulthera, where 300 lines and 600 lines are very different treatments.

Packages and series

Packages bundle several treatments, and some clinics price a series of sessions together. Both can be good value, but check the dose for each part and whether sessions must be used within a set time, which matters if you only visit Seoul occasionally. See our packages.

How to compare quotes fairly

  1. Same device, genuine consumables: ask which device and tip is used, and ask to see it opened.
  2. Same dose: compare 600 shots with 600 shots, not with a package of unspecified size.
  3. Who treats you: a licensed medical doctor or another staff member.
  4. What is included: consultation, numbing, soothing care and follow-up.
  5. VAT: is the price before or after 10% VAT?
  6. Product brand: Korean or imported toxin and filler.

An unusually low price is not automatically a warning sign, but it is a reason to check each of these points. More tips in how to choose a skin clinic in Seoul.

VAT and payment

Prices are in Korean won (KRW), exclude 10% VAT, and are confirmed at your consultation. The VAT refund for cosmetic procedures for foreign patients ended on January 1, 2026, so VAT is a real part of the cost. See payment and tax and our VAT refund update.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers from our medical team. Still unsure? Ask a doctor or browse all patient questions .

How many Thermage shots do I need?

As a guide, 300 shots suits a focused face treatment or maintenance, 600 shots covers the full face and jawline, and 900 shots adds the neck. Your doctor recommends a count after assessing your skin.

How many Ulthera lines does a full face need?

It varies with face size, skin thickness and the areas treated, and a full face often uses several hundred lines. Your doctor plans lines by depth and area rather than a fixed number.

Is a cheaper price for the same number of shots a red flag?

Not necessarily, but check that the device and tip are genuine, who performs the treatment, what is included and whether VAT is added. Comparing like for like avoids surprises.

What does 1cc actually mean?

One cc is one milliliter, about a fifth of a teaspoon. It sounds small, but in the face a single cc of filler or booster can make a visible difference.

Why do Korean clinics price Botox per area?

Per-area pricing is simpler to compare, because unit scales differ between toxin brands. Ask which brand is included and roughly how many units the area uses.

Do prices include VAT?

At Dernia, prices are in KRW and exclude 10% VAT. Since January 1, 2026, foreign patients can no longer claim a VAT refund on cosmetic procedures.
