What is Onda Lifting?

Onda is a contouring platform from DEKA, an Italian medical laser company. It uses a form of microwave energy the maker calls Coolwaves. Unlike radiofrequency or ultrasound, microwaves at this setting interact strongly with the fat layer under the skin. That makes Onda well suited to stubborn fullness under the chin and along the jaw, as well as small pockets of fat on the body.

In Korea, Onda Lifting refers to the facial use of the device, usually on the lower face. It is a contouring treatment that also firms the skin, and it sits alongside our other options in the lifting treatment menu.

How Onda works

Targeted heating: microwave energy concentrates in the fat layer, damaging fat cells so the body can clear them gradually.
Surface cooling: the handpiece cools the skin continuously, protecting the outer layers while the deeper tissue heats.
Tightening: the heat also contracts the fibrous connective tissue and stimulates collagen, so the skin firms as the fat reduces.

Who is a good candidate?

A double chin or fullness that blurs the jawline
Heavy jowls caused partly by fat rather than only by sagging
Small, pinchable fat pockets on the body, such as the abdomen or upper arms
People who want contouring without injections or surgery

If your face is already lean, fat reduction is not what you need, and your doctor may suggest a lifting device such as Shurink Universe instead. If width at the jaw angle comes from the chewing muscle, jaw Botox is the more effective option.

Downtime and aftercare

Most people have redness for an hour or two and mild swelling or tenderness for a day or two. Occasionally the area feels firm, lumpy or tingly for a few weeks as it heals; this settles on its own, but tell us if it worries you. Avoid saunas and intense exercise for 24 hours, stay well hydrated and use sunscreen on the face.

Results: what to expect and when

Skin can feel tighter soon after treatment, but fat reduction is gradual. Most people notice a cleaner jawline and less fullness under the chin over four to eight weeks. Some need a second or third session for their goal. Onda will not lift deep sagging or replace lost volume, and results vary with skin quality and how much fat is present to begin with. Planning Onda around a trip to Seoul

A session takes under an hour and you can fly the next day, though mild swelling under the chin may last a day or two. Because results appear over weeks, you will see the full change at home. If you need more than one session, your doctor can plan around repeat visits. Safety: who should avoid or delay it

Onda is not suitable if you have a pacemaker or another implanted electronic device, metal implants in the treatment area, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have an active skin infection there.
