The detailed answer

Understanding your treatment matters as much as the treatment itself. At Dernia, consultations are held in English so you can explain what you want in your own words and hear the doctor's assessment directly, without relying on a translation app for medical details. That includes risks, alternatives and aftercare, not just the price. It also means you can raise concerns, such as a past reaction or a look you want to avoid, and be sure they have been understood.

Clear communication matters for safety too. Your doctor needs an accurate picture of your health, medications and previous treatments to choose the right product and dose, and you need to understand the aftercare and warning signs before you leave.

Why this matters in Korea

Seoul clinics use some terms that can confuse first-time visitors. Lifting is priced in "shots" or "lines," skin boosters in "cc," and toxins by area or units. Prices are usually shown before VAT, and the word "Botox" is often used for several different toxin brands. Our guides to shots, lines and cc and Korean Botox brands explain the basics, and your doctor will confirm exactly which product and amount is planned for you.

What to cover in your consultation

  • Your main concern and what result would make you happy
  • Medical history, medications, allergies, pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Previous treatments, especially fillers, threads or lasers
  • Your travel dates, flights and any events or photos planned
  • The exact product, dose and expected downtime
  • The full price, including VAT

What we recommend

Write down your questions before you arrive and bring any records of previous treatments. If anything is unclear, ask the doctor to explain it again; a good consultation should leave you confident, not rushed. Prices are in Korean won (KRW), exclude 10% VAT, and are confirmed at your consultation.
