What are InMode Forma and Mini FX?

InMode is a medical device company whose platforms carry several interchangeable applicators. In Korea, InMode lifting usually means a combination of two of them.

Forma: gentle RF skin tightening

Forma delivers radiofrequency energy that warms the skin to a controlled temperature. The handpiece monitors skin temperature as it glides, so heat builds gradually and comfortably. The warmth can make skin look a little firmer and brighter soon after treatment, and repeated sessions support collagen over time. Many people describe it as similar to a warm massage.

Mini FX: for small pockets of fat

Mini FX is designed for small, stubborn fat areas, most often under the chin and along the jowls. It uses radiofrequency energy delivered through small electrodes to target fat cells in a limited area, while Forma works on the overlying skin. Together they aim to tighten and refine the lower face. Read more on our InMode lifting treatment page.

Why is InMode priced per session rather than per shot?

Thermage, Oligio X and Shurink are counted in shots or lines, because each pulse uses up part of a tip or cartridge. InMode works differently. Forma is a continuous gliding treatment, and Mini FX covers a defined zone. So clinics in Korea typically price InMode by the area treated and the applicators used in one session.

This makes quotes simple to read, but it also means the real cost depends on how many sessions you need. A single InMode session usually gives a modest, short-lived effect. The value comes from a series, followed by maintenance. Our guide to shots, lines and cc explains how other devices are priced.

How many InMode sessions will you need?

Most people plan a series of about three to five sessions, then maintenance every one to three months. Exactly how many depends on your skin, the amount of fullness under the chin and your goals.

  • Forma alone: often chosen for a refreshed, firmer look before an event, or as a regular skin-quality treatment.
  • Mini FX alone: for a small area of fullness under the chin when the skin itself is still firm.
  • Forma plus Mini FX: the most common combination for a softer jawline with some fullness and mild laxity.

For visitors on a short trip, a series can be hard to complete in Seoul. Your doctor may suggest one or two sessions during your stay, a longer-acting single-session lifting treatment instead, or a combination. See what if I cannot finish a treatment series?

Is InMode right for you?

Usually a good fit

  • Mild fullness under the chin or along the jowls
  • Mild laxity and a softening jawline
  • People who want comfortable treatment with no downtime
  • Residents or frequent visitors who can attend a series

Talk to the doctor first

  • Pacemakers or implanted electronic devices
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Significant sagging, where a stronger lifting device may suit better
  • Very little fat under the chin, where Mini FX may not be needed

If fullness under the chin is your main concern, compare other options on our double chin page.

InMode vs Shurink and ONDA: which suits your budget?

Several lower-face treatments overlap with InMode, and the right one depends on whether your concern is mainly skin looseness, fat or both.

  • Shurink Universe(focused ultrasound) lifts from deeper layers in a single session and is priced by shots, from ₩149,000 for 300 shots at Dernia. It suits looseness more than fat.
  • ONDA Lifting(microwave energy) targets fat and deeper skin layers and is priced by energy delivered, from ₩199,000 for 30,000 J.
  • InMode combines skin warming with targeted fat reduction and is priced per session, best as a series.

What happens during an InMode session?

An InMode appointment is relaxed and fairly quick, which makes it easy to fit between sightseeing plans.

  • Consultation. A licensed doctor checks how much of your lower-face fullness is fat and how much is loose skin, then recommends Forma, Mini FX or both and confirms the price in English.
  • Preparation. Makeup is removed and a conductive gel is applied. Numbing is not usually needed for Forma; some people prefer it before Mini FX.
  • Forma. The handpiece glides in slow circles while it monitors skin temperature. Once the target warmth is reached, the doctor holds it there for a set time in each zone.
  • Mini FX. The applicator is placed on the area under the chin or along the jowls, delivering short bursts of energy. You may feel a quick, sharp heat with each pulse.
  • Finish. The gel is removed and soothing care is applied. Most sessions take about 30–45 minutes.

Results, side effects and safety

Forma often gives a slightly tighter, glowing look within a day, which fades over days to weeks if not repeated. The more lasting change builds gradually over a series. Mini FX changes appear over several weeks as the body clears treated fat cells. The InMode results timeline explains what to expect.

  • Common and temporary: warmth and redness for a few hours, mild swelling under the chin after Mini FX.
  • Less common: tenderness, small red marks from the electrodes or temporary numbness under the chin.
  • Rare: burns or blisters if heat builds too quickly, which is why treatment is planned by a doctor and skin temperature is monitored.

Planning InMode around your Seoul trip

  1. Ask before you fly. Send your dates and concerns through our consultation form so we can suggest how many sessions fit your stay.
  2. Space your sessions. On a longer stay, sessions can be spaced through your trip. On a short trip, plan one session early on.
  3. Avoid your arrival day. Most visitors book from day two.
  4. Getting here. Dernia is in Myeongdong, close to Myeongdong Station (Line 4) and Euljiro 1-ga Station (Line 2).
  5. Budget for VAT. The tourist VAT refund on cosmetic procedures ended on January 1, 2026. See our VAT guide.

Flying home? InMode has no wounds or injections, so you can usually fly the same or next day. Mild swelling under the chin after Mini FX settles on its own. Our aftercare guide covers the first few days.
