InMode Lifting in Korea: Benefits, Technology and Expected Results — a guide for visitors in Myeongdong, Seoul.
Quick answer

InMode lifting combines two radiofrequency applicators: Forma, which gently heats the skin to tighten it and support collagen, and Mini FX, which targets small pockets of fat under the chin and along the jowls. Treatment is comfortable, has no downtime and works best as a short series of about three to five sessions, followed by maintenance. At Dernia Clinic Myeongdong in Seoul, InMode starts from ₩129,000 for one area, ₩189,000 for full-face Forma and ₩279,000 for Forma with Mini FX per session (KRW, excluding 10% VAT).

Treatment type Radiofrequency (Forma) + RF for fat (Mini FX)
Session time 20–45 minutes
Downtime None
Sessions Series of about 3–5, then maintenance
Results Gradual over the series
Price in Seoul From ₩129,000 per session

Prices are in Korean won, exclude 10% VAT and are confirmed by a doctor at consultation.

What is InMode lifting?

InMode is a medical device company whose platforms are widely used in Korean skin clinics. In Seoul, "InMode lifting" usually means a combination of two applicators on the same platform:

  • Forma: a radiofrequency (RF) applicator that heats the dermis evenly to tighten skin and stimulate collagen. It has built-in temperature monitoring, so the skin is held at a therapeutic temperature while the handpiece glides continuously.
  • Mini FX: an RF applicator designed for small, localized fat pockets, such as under the chin and along the jowls. It is used to refine contour rather than to tighten skin.

Together they aim to tighten loose skin and sharpen the lower face in one session. See our InMode Forma and Mini FX treatment page for device details.

How does InMode technology work?

Forma: temperature-controlled RF tightening

Forma delivers bipolar radiofrequency energy that warms the deeper skin layers. Sensors monitor skin temperature in real time and cut energy once the target temperature is reached. This steady, controlled warming causes collagen fibers to contract and prompts gradual collagen renewal. Because heat is spread over a broad area at a moderate temperature, most people describe it as a warm facial massage.

Mini FX: targeted fat reduction

Mini FX uses fine pins and RF energy to heat small fat deposits, aiming to break down fat cells, which the body then clears gradually. It is used on precise areas — typically the double chin and jowls — where a small reduction can make a visible difference to the jawline.

Unlike shot-based devices such as Thermage or Ulthera, InMode is priced per session and area. It is gentler per session, which is why a series is usually recommended.

Benefits of InMode Forma and Mini FX

  • Comfortable treatment: Forma is one of the most comfortable RF treatments; numbing is rarely needed.
  • No downtime: mild warmth or pinkness usually settles within an hour.
  • Two concerns in one visit: skin tightening and small fat pockets can be addressed together.
  • Glow on the day: many people notice a fresher, slightly tighter look immediately, which suits events and photos.
  • Flexible: easy to add to other treatments or repeat on return visits to Seoul.

Who is a good candidate for InMode lifting?

Usually a good fit

  • Adults with early skin laxity or mild jowls
  • A small amount of fullness under the chin
  • People wanting a comfortable, no-downtime treatment
  • Visitors who come to Seoul regularly and can complete a series

Talk to the doctor first

  • Pacemakers or implanted electronic devices
  • Metal implants in the treatment area
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Significant sagging or a large double chin
  • Active skin infection or a recent procedure in the area

If fullness under the chin is your main concern, compare all approaches on our double chin page.

What happens on InMode treatment day

  1. English consultation. A licensed doctor assesses your skin and fat distribution and recommends Forma, Mini FX or both, with a session plan and price.
  2. Preparation. Skin is cleansed and a conductive gel is applied.
  3. Forma. The handpiece glides over the face, holding skin at a warm target temperature for several minutes per zone.
  4. Mini FX. If included, short pulses are applied to under-chin or jowl areas. This part can feel more intense, so energy is adjusted to your comfort.
  5. Soothing. The skin is cleaned and calmed, and you can head straight back to your plans.

Expected InMode results and timeline

When What you may notice
Day 0 Warm, slightly flushed skin; a fresher, tighter look
Days 1–7 Mild swelling or tenderness under the chin if Mini FX was used
After 2–3 sessions Gradual firming and a smoother jawline
About 1–3 months after the series Best visible result for most people
Ongoing Maintenance every one to three months keeps results steady

InMode results are typically subtler than a single session of a high-energy device, and they build with repetition. See the InMode results guide for what to expect.

Is InMode safe? Side effects and risks

Forma is generally very well tolerated. Temporary redness and warmth are common. Mini FX can cause swelling, tenderness, small pinpoint marks or mild bruising in the treated area for a few days. Rare risks with any RF device include burns or blisters if temperature control fails or energy is excessive, which is why treatment should be planned and supervised by a doctor.

Avoid saunas, very hot baths and heavy exercise for the rest of the day. Use sunscreen daily. If you notice blistering, worsening pain or firm lumps, contact the clinic.

Only in Seoul for a few days? You can still start a series and continue at home with a qualified provider, or combine one InMode session with a longer-lasting lift. Read what to do if you cannot finish a series.

InMode compared with other Korean lifting devices

Seoul clinics offer many energy-based lifting treatments, and they are not interchangeable. InMode sits at the gentle, repeatable end of the range.

  • Versus ultrasound (Ulthera, Shurink): focused ultrasound reaches the deeper SMAS layer for structural lift. InMode works in the skin and fat layers, so it is better for tightening and contour refinement than for deep lift.
  • Versus high-energy RF (Thermage, Oligio X): these deliver stronger heat in one session and are priced by shots. InMode delivers moderate heat over a longer period and relies on repeat sessions.
  • Versus Onda: Onda uses microwave energy aimed at fat and deeper tissue and is often chosen for fuller lower faces. InMode Mini FX is better suited to small, precise fat pockets.
  • Versus fat-dissolving injections: injections also target the double chin but cause more swelling. Some people combine both approaches across a series.

A common approach for visitors is to pair one longer-lasting lifting treatment with InMode for an immediate refresh, then continue maintenance on later trips. Our Korean lifting treatments guide walks through each device.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Forma and Mini FX?

Forma uses radiofrequency to tighten skin and support collagen. Mini FX uses RF to target small fat pockets, such as under the chin and along the jowls.

How many InMode sessions do I need?

Most people benefit from a series of about three to five sessions, then maintenance every one to three months. One session can give a fresher look but is usually subtle.

Does InMode Forma hurt?

Most people find Forma comfortable, like a warm massage. Mini FX can feel more intense, and the energy is adjusted to your comfort.

Is there downtime after InMode?

Forma has no downtime. Mini FX may cause mild swelling or tenderness under the chin for a few days.

Can InMode replace Thermage or Ulthera?

Not exactly. InMode is gentler per session and works best as a series, while Thermage and Ulthera are usually single, higher-energy sessions. Your doctor can advise which fits your goals and travel schedule.
