Korean Skin Clinics in Myeongdong vs Busan: Prices and Travel Planning — a guide for visitors in Myeongdong, Seoul.
Quick answer

Both Seoul and Busan have doctor-led skin clinics offering popular Korean treatments, and prices depend on the clinic, brand and dose rather than the city. For most visitors, the bigger question is timing: Busan trips often include beach days and strong sun, which do not mix well with fresh laser treatment. Many people choose to have treatments in Seoul after returning from Busan, before flying home. At Dernia Clinic Myeongdong, wrinkle Botox starts from ₩39,000 per area, pico toning from ₩69,000 and Ulthera Prime from ₩390,000 for 100 lines (excluding 10% VAT).

Seoul to Busan About 2.5–3 hours by KTX
Myeongdong access Line 4, Line 2; near Seoul Station (KTX, AREX)
Price differences Depend on clinic, brand and dose
Beach and sun Avoid right after lasers
Best timing Treat after Busan, before flying home
Dernia price from ₩39,000 (Botox, 1 area)

Seoul or Busan: where should you get skin treatments?

Busan, Korea's second-largest city, is a favorite add-on to a Seoul trip for its beaches, seafood, hillside villages and temples. It has its own dermatology and aesthetic clinics, particularly around Seomyeon and Haeundae. Seoul has a larger number of clinics and is where many international visitors start and end their trip, since most long-haul flights arrive at Incheon.

Both cities offer the same core Korean treatments. Rather than choosing by city, consider three things: which clinic gives you a careful doctor-led consultation in a language you understand, where you will be when side effects are most noticeable, and how close the clinic is to your final departure point. For most international visitors, that points to Seoul.

How do Myeongdong and Busan compare for visitors?

Factor Myeongdong, Seoul Busan
Typical role in a trip Start and end of trip; near Incheon via AREX Mid-trip leg of 2–4 days
Main transport Line 4, Line 2; Seoul Station two stops away Busan Metro; KTX at Busan Station
Activities after treatment Shopping, palaces, museums, indoor options Beaches, coastal walks, hiking, outdoor markets
Sun exposure risk Moderate Often higher, especially in summer
Follow-up if needed Easy if Seoul is your final stop Harder once you have returned to Seoul

Are skin treatments cheaper in Busan than Seoul?

Not as a reliable rule. Prices vary widely clinic by clinic in both cities, and the biggest factors are the brand of product, the number of shots, lines, units or cc, who performs the treatment and whether 10% VAT is included. A lower headline price may mean fewer units or a different brand. Since January 1, 2026, the tourist VAT refund no longer applies to cosmetic procedures, so check every quote on the same basis. Why timing matters more than the city

The most common mistake visitors make is having a laser or injection just before a beach day in Busan. Fresh laser-treated skin is more vulnerable to sun damage and pigment changes, and heat, swimming, saunas and alcohol can all increase swelling and bruising after injections. Saltwater and sand on healing skin are also best avoided.

Fine before a Busan leg

  • Ultrasound or RF lifting (little visible downtime)
  • Wrinkle or jaw Botox, at least a day before travel
  • Hydrafacial or LDM Water Drop
  • Consultation only, with treatment on your return

Better after Busan

  • Pico or laser toning and IPL (sun-sensitive)
  • Fractional lasers or RF microneedling
  • Fillers and skin boosters with bruising or bumps
  • Anything before swimming or a jjimjilbang

Read seasonal skin treatment planning for how weather affects your choices.

A sample Seoul–Busan–Seoul plan

  1. Days 1–2, Seoul. Arrive and rest. Have your consultation in Myeongdong and, if you like, Botox or a lifting treatment.
  2. Days 3–5, Busan. Take the KTX from Seoul Station, about 2.5–3 hours. Enjoy the beaches with plenty of sunscreen.
  3. Days 6–7, back in Seoul. Return by KTX and have sun-sensitive treatments such as pico toning, IPL or skin boosters.
  4. Days 8–9, Seoul. Shop, recover and return to the clinic if you have any questions.
  5. Departure. Take AREX from Seoul Station to Incheon.

Which treatments make sense on a multi-city trip?

A trip that moves between cities has less flexibility than a single-city stay, so it helps to favor treatments that need one session and have predictable, short recovery. Good choices for most visitors include:

  • Ultrasound lifting. Shurink Universe or Ulthera Prime give a gradual lift with little visible downtime, so you can travel to Busan the next day.
  • Botox. A 10–15 minute treatment that starts working in a few days. If you have it on day one or two in Seoul, it will be taking effect while you are in Busan.
  • Pico toning. A gentle brightening session after you return from the beach, when you can stay out of strong sun.
  • Skin boosters. Rejuran Healer or HA boosters near the end of your trip, leaving one to three days for bumps to settle before the flight.

Treatments that need a series, such as melasma toning or acne scar programs, can still be started in Seoul, but plan to continue them at home or on a future visit. Bring a list of your medicines and recent treatments so the doctor can plan safely. For first-timers, read first visit to a Korean skin clinic.

What if a problem appears while you are in Busan?

Most side effects are mild and settle on their own. Still, keep the clinic's contact details on your phone and send a photo if you notice anything unusual, such as increasing pain, spreading redness or skin that turns pale or dusky after an injection. Severe or sudden symptoms need prompt medical attention wherever you are, so do not wait to return to Seoul.

Is it safe? Side effects to plan for

Popular Korean treatments are low-risk when performed by trained medical staff, but every procedure has side effects. Lasers can cause redness, dryness and, especially with sun exposure, temporary darkening of pigment; rarely, burns. Injections can cause swelling, bruising and tenderness, and fillers carry a rare risk of vascular occlusion, which needs urgent care. Botox can uncommonly cause a temporary droop or asymmetry. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, recent isotretinoin, blood thinners and active infections may mean waiting. A licensed doctor should confirm that each treatment suits you, and you should know how to contact the clinic after you leave the city.

Planning your treatment around a Korea trip

  • Book ahead. Share your full itinerary, including Busan dates, through our consultation form.
  • Avoid your arrival day. Give yourself a night to recover from the flight.
  • Easy to reach. Dernia is near Myeongdong Station (Line 4) and Euljiro 1-ga Station (Line 2), two stops from Seoul Station where the KTX and AREX arrive. See location and directions.
  • Pack sun protection. A broad-brim hat and high-SPF sunscreen are essential in Busan, especially after any treatment.

Heading to the beach after treatment? Wait until any redness has fully settled, reapply sunscreen every two hours and avoid saunas for a few days. Our laser aftercare guide explains what to avoid.

Frequently asked questions

Are skin treatments cheaper in Busan than in Seoul?

Not as a rule. Prices depend on the clinic, product brand, dose and whether VAT is included. Compare identical plans rather than cities.

Should I get treatments before or after visiting Busan?

How long is the KTX from Seoul to Busan?

About 2.5–3 hours from Seoul Station, which is two subway stops from Myeongdong.

Can I go to the beach after laser treatment?
