Rejuran S vs Juvelook: Which Is Better for Acne Scars? — a guide for visitors in Myeongdong, Seoul.
Quick answer

Rejuran S is a thicker polynucleotide formula injected directly under individual depressed scars to support repair. Juvelook combines PDLLA with hyaluronic acid to stimulate collagen across an area, which helps shallow, rolling scars, texture and pores. Neither erases deep scars alone; most people get the best result by combining an injectable with RF microneedling or laser. Dernia Clinic Myeongdong does not currently offer Rejuran S; it offers Juvelook from ₩299,000 for 2cc and Potenza RF microneedling from ₩299,000, excluding 10% VAT.

Rejuran S Thick polynucleotide, injected per scar
Juvelook PDLLA + hyaluronic acid collagen stimulator
Best scar type Shallow rolling and depressed scars
Sessions Usually 2–3 for Juvelook
Downtime Small bumps for 1–3 days
Dernia price Juvelook from ₩299,000 (2cc)

Prices are in Korean won, exclude 10% VAT and are confirmed by a doctor at consultation. Dernia does not currently offer Rejuran S.

Rejuran S vs Juvelook: the key difference

Both treatments are injectables used for depressed acne scars, but they work in different ways and are placed differently.

  • Rejuran S is a scar-focused member of the Rejuran family from Pharma Research. It uses a more concentrated, thicker polynucleotide (PN) gel injected directly beneath individual pitted scars. The idea is to support tissue repair under each scar so it sits less deep.
  • Juvelook, from Vaim Global in Korea, combines PDLLA (poly-D,L-lactic acid) with hyaluronic acid. The HA gives early hydration, while the PDLLA particles stimulate your skin to build new collagen over two to three months. It is spread across a zone such as the cheeks, which helps rolling scars, texture and pores at the same time.

So Rejuran S is scar-by-scar repair, while Juvelook is area-wide collagen building. Dernia does not currently offer Rejuran S. We offer Juvelook and several scar devices, and your doctor can suggest alternatives at consultation. Read more on our Juvelook treatment page.

Which acne scars respond to injectables?

Acne scars are not all the same, and the type matters more than the product name.

Scar type What it looks like Injectables alone?
Rolling Soft, wave-like dips across the cheeks Often respond well, especially to collagen stimulators
Boxcar (shallow) Round or oval dips with defined edges Partly; usually better with RF microneedling or laser
Boxcar (deep) Sharp-edged, deeper dips Limited; resurfacing or other procedures usually needed
Ice pick Narrow, deep pits Limited; injectables rarely enough on their own
Red or brown marks Flat discoloration, not true scars No; lasers or light treatments work better

Most people have a mix of scar types. Your doctor maps them before suggesting a plan.

If your concern is mainly flat red or brown marks, see post-acne marks instead — they need a different approach.

How does Juvelook help acne scars?

Juvelook is placed in the dermis across the scarred area. The PDLLA microparticles prompt a gradual collagen response, so the base of shallow scars rises and the surrounding skin becomes thicker and smoother. Because the HA component hydrates at the same time, many people notice a smoother surface early, followed by a more lasting change as collagen matures.

  • Sessions: usually two to three, four to six weeks apart
  • Visible change: builds over two to three months after each session
  • Duration: commonly 12 months or more after a series
  • Bonus effects: finer pores and smoother texture across the treated zone

A common concern is lumps. Good dilution, correct depth and aftercare reduce that risk; see does Juvelook cause lumps.

How does Rejuran S work?

Rejuran S is injected in small amounts directly beneath individual depressed scars. The PN is associated with supporting repair and tissue quality, which can gradually soften the depth of each scar over a series. It is often chosen for patients who prefer a repair-focused product or whose scars are scattered rather than spread across one zone.

Because Dernia does not offer Rejuran S, we cannot quote a price for it. If you are drawn to the PN approach, ask about Rejuran Healer, which some doctors use with extra product placed in scarred areas, or a combined device plan.

Why combination plans usually work best

Injectables improve the skin from within, but acne scars often have fibrous bands that tether the surface down, along with edges that need remodeling. That is why doctors in Korea commonly pair an injectable with a device:

  • Potenza RF microneedling delivers heat below the surface to remodel scar tissue and stimulate collagen, with 2–4 days of redness.
  • CO2 fractional laser resurfaces deeper boxcar and rolling scars but needs 5–7 days of downtime.
  • Pico fractional is a gentler option for shallow scars and texture.

Our acne scar treatment plan guide explains how these are sequenced.

What happens on treatment day

  1. Scar mapping. A licensed doctor examines your scars under good light, often from several angles, and identifies which are rolling, boxcar or ice pick. This decides whether an injectable, a device or a combination makes most sense.
  2. Plan and price. The doctor explains the plan in English, how many sessions are realistic during your stay, and the final price before anything begins.
  3. Numbing. Topical numbing cream is applied for 30–40 minutes. RF microneedling uses numbing as standard.
  4. Treatment. For combination plans, the device is usually performed first and the injectable afterward, or on a separate day, depending on your skin.
  5. Soothing and aftercare. Cooling or a calming mask, then written aftercare instructions and a contact point for questions after you leave.

Expect the whole visit to take one to two hours including consultation and numbing. Bring photos of how your scars looked at their worst and any previous treatments, which helps the doctor judge how your skin responds to injury and healing.

Who is a good candidate?

Usually a good fit

  • Shallow rolling scars on the cheeks or temples
  • Mixed scars with rough texture and enlarged pores
  • Stable skin with no active breakouts
  • Patience for gradual change over months

Talk to the doctor first

  • Active acne or recent isotretinoin use
  • Mostly deep ice pick or sharp boxcar scars
  • History of keloid or raised scarring
  • Pregnancy, breastfeeding or skin infection

Risks and side effects

Expected effects for both injectables include redness, swelling, small bumps and possible bruising for one to three days. With collagen stimulators such as Juvelook, there is a small risk of nodules or lumps if the product is placed too superficially or unevenly, which is why technique matters. As with any injection, infection and rare vascular complications are possible. Avoid saunas, alcohol and intense exercise for the first day or two, and follow massage instructions if your doctor gives them.

Planning acne scar treatment around your Seoul trip

  • Set realistic goals. Scars improve in percentages over a series; one visit is a start rather than a finish.
  • Allow downtime. Juvelook bumps settle in a few days; Potenza needs 2–4 days of redness; CO2 needs about a week.
  • Avoid your arrival day and do more intense treatments early in your trip, not the day before you fly.
  • Location. Dernia is in Myeongdong, near Myeongdong Station (Line 4) and Euljiro 1-ga Station (Line 2).
  • Book ahead with photos of your scars through our consultation form.

Sun matters after scar treatment. Healing skin can darken with UV exposure, especially after devices. Use broad-spectrum sunscreen daily and follow our aftercare guide while you sightsee.
