Quick answer

Skin Botox places diluted toxin just under the surface to soften fine crinkly lines, reduce oil and smooth texture within one to two weeks, lasting about two to three months. Juvelook is a PDLLA collagen stimulator that improves fine lines, rough texture, pores and shallow scars gradually over two to three months, lasting 12 months or more after a series of two to three sessions. Choose skin Botox for quick refinement, Juvelook for longer-lasting structural improvement. At Dernia Clinic Myeongdong in Seoul, skin Botox starts from ₩129,000 and Juvelook from ₩299,000, excluding 10% VAT.

Skin Botox vs Juvelook: the key difference

Both treatments target the quality of your skin rather than its shape, and both are injected in many small points across the face. The difference is how they create smoother skin.

  • Skin Botox(micro Botox) uses diluted botulinum toxin placed just under the skin surface instead of deep in the muscle. It softens the tiny muscle fibers that crinkle the skin, reduces oil and gives a smoother, more refined surface, without freezing your expressions.
  • Juvelook, from Vaim Global in Korea, combines PDLLA with hyaluronic acid. It stimulates your skin to build new collagen in the dermis over the following months, which thickens and smooths the skin from within.

Skin Botox is a fast, temporary refinement. Juvelook is a slower, longer-lasting rebuild. See our skin Botox and Juvelook treatment pages for full details.

What kinds of fine lines does each treat?

Fine lines are not all alike, and the type you have points to the right treatment.

  • Dynamic crinkle lines that appear when you smile or squint, such as fine lines on the cheeks or under the eyes, often respond well to skin Botox because it relaxes the superficial muscle pull.
  • Static fine lines and crepey texture that are visible even when your face is at rest usually reflect thinning collagen. Juvelook addresses this by rebuilding the dermis.
  • Deeper expression lines on the forehead, between the brows and at the crow's feet are usually treated with standard wrinkle Botox placed in the muscle, not skin Botox. See fine lines for all options.

Which is better for texture and pores?

For texture caused by oiliness, shine and fine surface irregularity, skin Botox gives a quick, visible smoothing. Makeup often sits better within a week or two.

For texture caused by lost collagen, enlarged stretched pores or shallow acne scars, Juvelook usually gives a more meaningful and lasting improvement, because it changes the structure of the skin rather than its activity. If you have both, the two can complement each other. Our rough skin texture page explains how doctors match treatments to causes.

Who is each treatment best for?

Skin Botox is usually the fit

  • Fine crinkly lines that appear with expression
  • Oily skin with shine and visible pores
  • You want a quick result on a short trip
  • You do not mind repeating every few months

Juvelook is usually the fit

  • Fine lines visible at rest and crepey texture
  • Enlarged pores from lost elasticity
  • Shallow rolling acne scars
  • You want a longer-lasting change and can do a series

Combination is common in Seoul. A typical approach is Juvelook to rebuild collagen over a few months, with skin Botox for faster refinement before an event. Your doctor decides whether to treat on the same day or stage them.

What happens on treatment day

  1. English consultation. A licensed doctor examines your lines and texture at rest and in motion, then recommends a treatment and agrees the price with you.
  2. Numbing. Topical numbing cream for about 20–40 minutes.
  3. Preparation. Skin Botox is diluted to the right strength; Juvelook is mixed and allowed to hydrate fully, which matters for smooth results.
  4. Injection. Both are placed as many small superficial injections across the treatment area.
  5. Aftercare. Cooling, then written English aftercare and a contact for questions.

Results timeline

  • First days: small bumps from both treatments. Skin Botox bumps usually go within hours; Juvelook bumps within one to three days.
  • Weeks 1–2: skin Botox reaches its effect, with smoother texture, less shine and softer crinkle lines. Juvelook may show early hydration from its HA component.
  • Months 1–3: Juvelook's collagen response builds; texture, pores and static lines gradually improve. Skin Botox begins to fade toward the end of this period.
  • After a full Juvelook series: improvement commonly lasts 12 months or more.

Is it safe? Risks and side effects

Both treatments are widely used and generally well tolerated in trained hands. Common, temporary effects include redness, swelling, small bumps and occasional bruising.

  • Skin Botox: if toxin spreads to nearby muscles it can cause temporary weakness, such as a slightly altered smile, which fades as the toxin wears off. Careful dilution and placement lower this risk.
  • Juvelook: the main specific risk is small nodules or lumps, more likely with superficial placement or inadequate mixing. Read does Juvelook cause lumps.
  • Not suitable now: pregnancy or breastfeeding, active skin infection or acne flare, some neuromuscular conditions for toxin, and keloid tendency or autoimmune disease for Juvelook.

Planning skin Botox or Juvelook around your Seoul trip

  • Short trip: skin Botox fits easily and shows within one to two weeks. A first Juvelook session is also possible, with later sessions on a return visit.
  • Event coming up: book skin Botox at least two weeks before for the full effect.
  • Avoid your arrival day so flight delays do not squeeze your appointment.
  • Location: Dernia is in Myeongdong, near Myeongdong Station (Line 4) and Euljiro 1-ga Station (Line 2).
  • Book ahead through our consultation form with your dates.

Flying home soon? Both treatments are generally fine before a flight. Avoid lying face-down, rubbing your skin or heavy makeup for the first day. See flying after Botox, fillers and boosters.

Frequently asked questions

Is skin Botox the same as regular Botox?

It uses the same type of toxin, but it is diluted and placed just under the skin surface rather than in the muscle, so it refines texture without freezing expressions.

Juvelook lasts longer, commonly 12 months or more after a series. Skin Botox usually lasts about two to three months.

Which is better for fine lines under the eyes?

It depends on the cause. Crinkle lines that appear with smiling may respond to skin Botox, while crepey thin skin may suit other options. Your doctor will examine the area first.

Can I combine skin Botox and Juvelook?

Yes, they are often combined or staged. Your doctor will advise on the order and spacing.

Is there downtime?

Minimal. Skin Botox bumps usually settle within hours, and Juvelook bumps within one to three days.

What are the prices at Dernia?

Skin Botox starts from ₩129,000 for the full face with Korean toxin, and Juvelook from ₩299,000 for 2cc, both excluding 10% VAT.
