At consultation, a doctor can suggest alternatives such as Ulthera Prime, which starts from ₩390,000 for 100 lines, or Thermage FLX, from ₩990,000 for 300 shots. Prices are in KRW and exclude 10% VAT.

How much does Sofwave cost in Korea?

There is no single Sofwave price in Korea. Clinics that offer it set their own prices, and quotes usually depend on the treatment area, the number of passes and whether other treatments are bundled in. Because packages differ so much, the most useful thing you can do is ask for an itemized quote showing exactly what is included.

Dernia Clinic Myeongdong does not currently offer Sofwave. We explain the treatment here because many visitors ask about it, and because understanding how it is priced helps you compare it fairly with other lifting options. If you visit Dernia, a doctor can suggest alternatives that match your goals and budget.

What is Sofwave?

Sofwave is an ultrasound-based skin-tightening device. Instead of focusing energy into deep points, as micro-focused ultrasound devices do, it uses an array of transducers to deliver parallel beams that heat a band of tissue in the mid-dermis, roughly a millimeter and a half below the surface. The surface is cooled during treatment. The heat triggers collagen remodeling, and the aim is firmer, smoother skin and an improvement in fine lines over the following months.

Because it works in the mid-dermis rather than the deeper SMAS layer, Sofwave is usually described as a skin-quality and tightening treatment rather than a deep structural lift. That distinction matters when you compare prices with other devices.

People who look into Sofwave are usually hoping for three things: firmer skin, softer fine lines and very little downtime. Those goals are shared by several other devices, so if Sofwave is not available, or if a doctor feels another approach suits your skin better, you are not without options. The key is to match the device to where your concern actually sits, whether that is the skin surface, the dermis or the deeper support layers.

What drives the price of Sofwave?

  • Treatment area. A full face costs more than a single zone such as the brows or under the chin. Adding the neck increases the price.
  • Number of passes. More passes deliver more energy and usually cost more.
  • Device and consumables. Specialized devices with dedicated consumables tend to be priced at the premium end.
  • Doctor involvement and comfort care. A doctor-led consultation, numbing and aftercare all add value.
  • VAT. Many Korean prices exclude 10% VAT. Since January 1, 2026, tourists can no longer claim a VAT refund on cosmetic procedures. See our 2026 VAT guide.

How to judge value: questions to ask any clinic

Value is not the same as the lowest price. When you compare Sofwave or any lifting device in Seoul, ask:

  1. What exactly is included? Ask for the area, number of passes and whether numbing and aftercare are included.
  2. Is the price before or after VAT? A 10% difference matters on premium treatments.
  3. Who performs the treatment? A licensed doctor should examine you and set the plan.
  4. Is the device genuine? Ask which device is being used and how energy is recorded.
  5. What results are realistic for you? A good clinic explains likely improvement honestly, including when another treatment may suit you better.

What can Dernia offer instead of Sofwave?

Dernia offers several lifting and tightening devices that overlap with what people hope to achieve with Sofwave. Which one fits depends on whether your concern is deeper sagging, skin quality or both.

Treatment at Dernia How it works Starting price (KRW)
Ulthera Prime Micro-focused ultrasound reaching the SMAS and deep dermis ₩390,000 (100 lines)
Thermage FLX Monopolar RF tightening of the deep dermis ₩990,000 (300 shots)
Oligio X Korean monopolar RF tightening ₩390,000 (300 shots)
Shurink Universe Korean HIFU lifting, often repeated ₩149,000 (300 shots)
Titanium Lifting Triple-wavelength diode laser with no downtime ₩450,000 (full face)

Prices exclude 10% VAT and are confirmed at consultation. See all Dernia prices.

If you want skin tightening and smoother texture

Radiofrequency devices such as Thermage FLX or Oligio X heat the dermis to tighten skin and support collagen, which is close in spirit to what Sofwave aims to do.

If you want a deeper lift

Ulthera Prime reaches deeper layers, including the SMAS, and is usually chosen for jowls and a softening jawline.

If you want a lower budget with regular top-ups

Shurink Universe is an affordable Korean HIFU device that many people repeat two or three times a year.

How to compare value across devices

Different devices are priced in different units: lines for Ulthera, shots for Thermage, Oligio X and Shurink, and area for Titanium. A low headline price can simply mean a smaller amount of treatment. A fair comparison asks three things: how much of your face is treated, at which depth, and how long results typically last. A more expensive treatment that lasts a year may cost less over time than a cheaper one repeated every few months, while a lighter, repeatable option may suit you better if you live in or visit Seoul often. Our guide to how long lifting results last helps put prices in context.

Who is a good candidate for skin-tightening treatments?

Usually a good fit

  • Mild to moderate laxity on the face or neck
  • Fine lines and crepey texture
  • People who want a non-surgical option with little downtime
  • Visitors planning one treatment session during a trip

Talk to the doctor first

  • Heavy sagging or excess skin, where surgery may be discussed
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Implanted electronic devices (for RF treatments)
  • Active infection, open wounds or very recent procedures in the area

Safety and realistic expectations

Energy-based tightening treatments are non-surgical, but they are still medical procedures. Common effects include redness, mild swelling and tenderness for a day or two. Less commonly, people notice temporary bumps, bruising or tingling. Rare risks include burns, nerve irritation or contour changes, which is why a doctor should assess your skin and set energy levels. No device replaces a surgical facelift for advanced sagging, and results vary between people. Read who should not get lifting treatments before you book.

Planning a lifting treatment around your Seoul trip

  • Ask before you fly. Share your goals through our consultation form. If you were considering Sofwave, mention it, and the doctor can explain alternatives.
  • Avoid your arrival day. Book from day two of your trip.
  • Getting here. Dernia is in Myeongdong, near Myeongdong Station (Line 4) and Euljiro 1-ga Station (Line 2).
  • Allow time for results. Collagen-based results take weeks to months, so most of the change appears after you are home.

Flying home? Most energy-based lifting treatments involve no needles, so flying the next day is usually fine. Ask your doctor if you are combining lifting with injectables. Our aftercare guide explains the first few days.
