What does a line mean in Ulthera?
Ulthera Prime is a micro-focused ultrasound device with real-time imaging. The doctor sees the skin layers on screen before delivering energy. Each line is one row of tiny heating points placed at a fixed depth. Deeper transducers reach the SMAS, the supportive layer lifted in surgical facelifts, while shallower ones treat the deep dermis.
A thorough treatment usually layers lines at two depths in the same area. That is why line counts rise quickly as coverage increases, and why the same number of lines spread across a bigger area gives a lighter result. What can 100 lines of Ulthera treat?
One hundred lines is a precision plan for a single zone. Common uses are:
- A brow lift: gently raising the brow tail and opening the upper eye area.
- Under the chin: tightening mild submental looseness for a cleaner jaw angle.
- A top-up: extra lines on one stubborn area after a previous full-face session.
It is not designed to lift the whole face. If you want an overall result, 100 lines spread thinly will give limited change.
What can 300 lines of Ulthera treat?
Three hundred lines is the lower-face plan. It allows the doctor to treat the jawline, jowls and lower cheeks at more than one depth. This is the plan many people in their late 30s and 40s choose when the jawline is starting to soften but the upper face still looks firm.
- Good for: early jowls, a less defined jawline, mild lower-face heaviness.
- Limits: the brows, temples and upper cheeks receive little or no treatment.
What about 400 lines for the full face?
Between 300 and 600 lines sits the 400-line plan, which many doctors consider the most useful option for first-time Ulthera patients. Four hundred lines is the standard full-face plan. It covers the brows and forehead, cheeks, jawline and lower face, with layered passes where laxity is greatest. For most adults who want an overall lift from one session a year, this is the most balanced option. It is worth considering even if you came in asking about 300 or 600 lines.
What does 600 lines of Ulthera cover?
Six hundred lines extends treatment to under the chin and the neck. The neck has thinner skin and often shows looseness and horizontal lines, so it needs careful, appropriate depths. This plan suits people whose concerns continue below the jawline.
- Good for: full-face laxity plus under-chin looseness and an aging neck.
- Limits: longer session time and more discomfort; not necessary if your neck is firm.
For neck lines specifically, see neck line treatments.
How do you choose the right line count?
Choose fewer lines if
- Your concern is one small area such as the brows
- You are in your early 30s with mild changes
- You are topping up after a previous full session
- Your face is naturally slim with little soft tissue
Choose more lines if
- Laxity shows in several areas at once
- You have jowls and a softening jaw plus brow heaviness
- Your neck and under-chin also bother you
- You only plan one session a year
More is not always better. In very lean faces, too much deep heating can make hollows more noticeable. A licensed doctor examines your face and recommends a line count that matches your anatomy, not the largest plan. See when to start lifting treatments for guidance by age.
Is a bigger plan better value?
Larger plans cost less per block of 100 lines. The 100-line plan is ₩390,000, while 300 lines are ₩1,090,000 and 400 lines are ₩1,390,000. If your doctor recommends treating the whole face, booking the full-face plan once is usually better value, and gives a more even result, than adding 100-line blocks over several visits. On the other hand, if only one area truly needs lifting, there is no reason to pay for coverage you do not need.
What happens on treatment day?
- Consultation in English. The doctor examines your face, discusses goals and confirms the line count and final price before anything starts.
- Numbing. Numbing cream is applied, since ultrasound can feel sharp and deep over bone.
- Mapping. The face is marked so lines are placed evenly and away from sensitive structures.
- Treatment. Using real-time imaging, the doctor delivers lines at the planned depths. A 100-line session is short; 600 lines can take up to about 90 minutes.
- Finish. Gel is removed and soothing care is applied. Most people go straight back to their plans.
Results, side effects and safety
Some firmness may be visible early, but most of the lift comes from new collagen. Results typically peak at two to three months, and one session often lasts about a year or longer. The Ulthera Prime results timeline explains what to expect.
Common and temporary effects include redness, swelling and tenderness along the jaw. Small bruises or welts can appear. Rarer risks include temporary numbness or nerve irritation, and contour changes if too much energy is placed in a thin face. These risks are lower when a doctor plans and supervises treatment. Tell the doctor about any filler, threads, medical conditions or pregnancy.
