Cheek Filler vs Juvelook Volume: Facial Volume Treatments Compared — a guide for visitors in Myeongdong, Seoul.
Quick answer

Cheek filler uses hyaluronic acid gel to restore volume immediately, with results lasting roughly 6–18 months. Juvelook Volume, also called Lenisna, is a PDLLA collagen stimulator that prompts your own collagen to rebuild soft volume gradually over two to three months, with results that can last about 12–24 months. Filler suits people who want a defined change now; Lenisna suits people who prefer a subtle, natural build. At Dernia Clinic Myeongdong in Seoul, HA filler starts from ₩150,000 per cc and Lenisna from ₩490,000 per vial (KRW, excluding 10% VAT).

Cheek filler vs Juvelook Volume: the short answer

Cheek filler adds volume the moment it is injected. Juvelook Volume (Lenisna) adds volume by stimulating your own collagen, so the change appears gradually over weeks to months. If you want a visible lift and contour before you fly home, filler is usually the better fit. If you want a soft, natural-looking restoration and do not mind waiting, Lenisna is often the better fit.

Both are used for flat or hollow cheeks, a tired-looking mid-face and the shadows that come with volume loss. Your doctor's choice depends on how much volume is missing, your skin thickness, your timeline and the look you prefer.

It also helps to understand why cheeks lose volume. From the thirties onward, the fat pads of the mid-face gradually shrink and shift downward, bone support slowly decreases, and the skin produces less collagen. The result can be a flatter cheek, a more visible groove under the eye and a deeper smile line. Filler replaces the missing support directly. Lenisna works on the collagen side of the problem, thickening the tissue so it holds more volume of its own.

What happens on treatment day

  1. English consultation. A licensed doctor assesses your cheeks at rest and when smiling, explains the options and confirms the product, amount and price before anything starts.
  2. Numbing. Numbing cream is applied for about 20–30 minutes; many fillers also contain lidocaine.
  3. Injection. The doctor uses a fine needle or blunt cannula. Filler takes about 20–30 minutes; Lenisna is placed in a similar way but spread more evenly across the zone.
  4. Aftercare. For Lenisna you may be asked to massage the area for several days. You receive written aftercare in English.

What is cheek filler?

Cheek filler uses a cross-linked hyaluronic acid (HA) gel placed deep over the cheekbone or in the soft tissue of the mid-face. HA is a substance found naturally in skin, and the gel holds its shape to lift and support the area. In Korea, cheek filler is used both for youthful volume and for refining the front-of-cheek contour.

  • Result: visible immediately, settling over one to two weeks.
  • Duration: roughly 6–18 months depending on product and area.
  • Adjustable: HA can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if needed.

What is Juvelook Volume (Lenisna)?

Lenisna, also sold as Juvelook Volume, is a higher-concentration PDLLA (poly-D,L-lactic acid) collagen stimulator from the Korean company Vaim Global. Standard Juvelook is placed more superficially to refine texture; Lenisna is placed deeper to restore soft volume in areas such as the temples, cheeks and under-eye hollows.

After injection, the carrier is absorbed over a few days, so any early fullness fades. The PDLLA particles then prompt fibroblasts to produce new collagen. Volume builds gradually over two to three months, and the result can last around 12–24 months. Because your own tissue creates the change, it tends to look and feel natural. See the Lenisna treatment page.

Downtime Mild swelling 1–3 days Mild swelling 1–3 days

Who is a good candidate for each?

Usually a good fit

  • Filler: wanting a defined result before an event or flight home
  • Filler: first-time volume treatment you may want to adjust
  • Lenisna: mild to moderate hollowing and thinning skin
  • Lenisna: preferring a subtle change that friends will not notice as "done"

Talk to the doctor first

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Autoimmune disease or a history of keloids (for collagen stimulators)
  • Active skin infection or recent dental work near the area
  • Previous permanent filler or unknown products in the cheeks

Results timeline: what to expect and when

When Cheek filler Lenisna
Day 0 Visible lift and volume, some swelling Temporary fullness from the carrier
Week 1 Swelling settles; shape becomes clear Early fullness fades; looks close to baseline
Months 1–3 Stable result Volume builds gradually as collagen forms
Months 6–12 Gradual softening; top-up if desired Settled, natural result
Months 12–24 Most HA largely absorbed Gradual fading; maintenance as needed

These are typical ranges, not promises. Lenisna results also depend on your body's collagen response, which varies between people. See Lenisna results and dermal filler results.

Can you combine filler and Lenisna?

Yes. Some doctors use a small amount of HA filler for immediate structure on the cheekbone and Lenisna for broader, natural volume across the mid-face and temples. This gives you something visible now while the collagen builds. Combinations are planned carefully so the total volume does not look heavy later. If you are weighing collagen stimulators, compare Lenisna vs Sculptra.

Is it safe? Risks and side effects

  • Both: swelling, tenderness and bruising for a few days are common.
  • Filler: lumps or asymmetry can usually be adjusted. The most serious rare risk is vascular occlusion, where filler blocks a blood vessel; doctors reduce this with careful technique and keep hyaluronidase available.
  • Lenisna: small nodules can form if product is placed too superficially or unevenly. Following the massage and aftercare instructions helps. Vascular occlusion is also possible with any injectable, although PDLLA cannot be dissolved like HA.

Planning a volume treatment around your Seoul trip

  • Book ahead. Send your dates and photos through our consultation form.
  • Avoid your arrival day. Rest first and treat from day two or three.
  • Short trip? Filler gives a result you can see before you leave. Lenisna results appear after you are home, so take photos to track progress.
  • Getting here. Dernia is near Myeongdong Station (Line 4) and Euljiro 1-ga Station (Line 2).

Flying home? Most people can fly the day after either treatment. Avoid pressing on the cheeks, saunas and alcohol for a day or two, and follow any massage instructions for Lenisna. See flying after fillers and boosters.
