Eye Area Tightening in Korea: Treatments for Fine Lines and Laxity — a guide for visitors in Myeongdong, Seoul.
Quick answer

Non-surgical eye area tightening in Korea uses different tools for different concerns. RF devices with eye tips, such as Thermage FLX and Oligio X, tighten crepey eyelid skin and mild hooding; Rejuran Eye improves thin, lined under-eye skin; Botox softens crow's feet; and under-eye filler can treat hollows in carefully selected patients. At Dernia Clinic Myeongdong in Seoul, Rejuran Eye starts from ₩189,000 (1cc), Oligio X from ₩390,000 for 300 shots of focused face or eye area, and crow's feet Botox from ₩39,000 (KRW, excluding 10% VAT).

Treatment type RF, skin boosters, Botox, filler

Why does the eye area age first?

The skin around the eyes is much thinner than the rest of the face, has fewer oil glands and moves thousands of times a day as you blink, squint and smile. Over time, collagen loss and sun exposure lead to fine lines, crepey texture, mild upper-lid hooding and under-eye hollows or shadows. Because this area is delicate, eye treatments need specific devices, products and techniques rather than the same settings used elsewhere.

Our eye area treatments page summarizes what Dernia offers.

Eye area tightening treatments in Seoul

RF tightening with an eye tip

Thermage FLX has a dedicated eye tip that can treat the upper and lower eyelids, softening crepiness and mild hooding without surgery. Oligio X also offers a tip suited to the eye area. Protective eye shields are used during treatment. Results build over two to six months. At Dernia, the Thermage eye tip is offered with the 900-shot face and neck plan. See the Thermage FLX page for details.

RF eye treatment is gentle on the surface but does involve heat close to the eye, so it is performed with protective shields and lower energy than on the cheeks. Many people describe it as warm and prickly rather than painful. Because results depend on collagen renewal, the eyelids look gradually smoother over the following months rather than on the day. It is often combined with a booster for the under-eyes, since RF and boosters improve different layers of the skin.

Rejuran Eye (Rejuran I)

Rejuran Eye is a finer polynucleotide formula designed for the thin skin around the eyes. It supports repair and skin thickness, softening fine lines, crepey texture and the shadowing that makes the under-eye look tired. Most people plan two or three sessions. See the Rejuran Eye page.

Botox for crow's feet

A small dose of toxin relaxes the muscle that causes crow's feet. Results appear within about a week and last about three to four months. It is quick, with no downtime.

Under-eye filler

Soft hyaluronic acid filler can soften hollows and the shadow they cast. It is one of the most technique-sensitive and highest-risk filler areas, so the doctor first confirms that filler is the right choice. Compare it with a booster in under-eye filler vs Rejuran Eye.

Agnes RF for small eye bags

Agnes uses ultra-fine insulated needles to deliver RF energy to the small fat pads behind under-eye bags. It is suitable only for selected patients and involves two to five days of swelling.

Who is a good candidate?

Usually a good fit

  • Crepey eyelid skin or mild hooding
  • Fine lines around or under the eyes
  • Crow's feet when smiling
  • Mild under-eye hollowing with good skin quality

Talk to the doctor first

  • Significant excess eyelid skin or large eye bags (eyelid surgery may be more effective)
  • Dry eye, recent eye surgery or eye infection
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • A tendency to under-eye swelling or fluid retention (for filler)
  • Allergy to fish-derived products (for Rejuran)

What happens on treatment day

  1. English consultation. The doctor examines your eyelids and under-eyes in different lighting and positions to identify the cause of each concern.
  2. Agree a plan. Treatments and price are confirmed before anything starts.
  3. Numbing and protection. Numbing cream is applied; protective eye shields are used for RF treatment near the eyes.
  4. Treatment. RF passes, booster injections, Botox or filler are performed in the order the doctor decides.
  5. Aftercare. Cool compresses may be used, and you receive written aftercare in English.

Results timeline for eye treatments

  • Botox: softening begins in about three to seven days, with the full effect at around two weeks.
  • Filler: visible immediately, with the final result once swelling settles in one to two weeks.
  • Rejuran Eye: gradual improvement in texture and thickness over several weeks, building with each session.
  • RF eye tightening: gradual firming over two to six months as collagen remodels.

Eye area results are subtle by design. The aim is a fresher, more rested look, not a change in eye shape. See Rejuran Eye results.

Is eye area treatment safe? Risks to know

Because the eye area is delicate, conservative treatment by an experienced doctor is essential. RF tightening can cause temporary redness, swelling and, rarely, blisters. Eye shields protect the eye itself. Rejuran Eye commonly causes small bumps, mild swelling and occasional bruising for one to two days. Botox for crow's feet can occasionally cause bruising or, uncommonly, a change in smile or mild eyelid heaviness if toxin spreads.

Under-eye filler carries the highest risk. Common effects include swelling and bruising for two to five days. It can also cause lumps, a bluish tint if placed too superficially, or prolonged swelling. The most serious risk is vascular occlusion — filler blocking a blood vessel — which can damage skin and, very rarely, affect vision. This requires immediate treatment with a dissolving agent, so under-eye filler should only be performed by an experienced doctor prepared to manage complications. Read our side effects guide.

Flying home? RF and Botox rarely affect travel. If you have under-eye filler or Agnes, allow a few days for swelling and bruising to settle before a long flight. See our guide to flying after injectables.

Planning eye treatments around your Seoul trip

  • Book ahead. Send close-up photos and your dates through our consultation form.
  • Avoid your arrival day. Long flights can cause puffiness, which makes assessment harder; schedule from day two.
  • Treat injectables early. If filler or boosters are included, book them early in your stay to allow swelling to settle.
  • Getting here. Dernia is in Myeongdong, near Myeongdong Station (Line 4) and Euljiro 1-ga Station (Line 2).

Frequently asked questions

Can Thermage treat hooded eyelids?

Thermage FLX with an eye tip can soften mild hooding and crepiness on the upper and lower lids. Significant excess skin usually needs eyelid surgery for a meaningful change.

Is under-eye filler safe?

It can be effective in carefully selected patients, but it is a higher-risk area. Risks include swelling, lumps and, rarely, vascular occlusion, so it should only be done by an experienced doctor.

What is the difference between Rejuran Eye and Rejuran Healer?

Rejuran Eye is a finer polynucleotide formula designed for thin under-eye skin, while Rejuran Healer is used across the face.

How long does crow's feet Botox last?

Usually about three to four months. The effect begins within a week and peaks at around two weeks.

Can I treat eye bags without surgery?

Small fat bags may respond to Agnes RF in selected patients. Larger bags usually need surgical assessment.

Can I fly after eye treatment?

After RF or Botox, most people fly the next day. After filler or Agnes, allow a few days for swelling and bruising to settle.
