At Dernia Clinic Myeongdong in Seoul, wrinkle Botox starts from ₩39,000 per area with a Korean toxin, ₩79,000 with Xeomin and ₩99,000 with Allergan Botox (KRW, excluding 10% VAT).

What is forehead Botox?

Forehead Botox is a small series of botulinum toxin injections into the frontalis, the broad muscle that runs vertically across your forehead and raises your eyebrows. Every time you look surprised or lift your brows to open your eyes, the frontalis contracts and folds the skin into horizontal lines. Over years, those folds become etched in even when your face is at rest.

The toxin temporarily blocks the nerve signal that tells the muscle to contract. The muscle relaxes, the skin above it stops creasing as deeply, and lines soften. In Korea the word "Botox" is used for any botulinum toxin, although Botox itself is an Allergan brand. Korean-made toxins such as Botulax, Nabota and Coretox are widely used alongside imported Xeomin and Allergan Botox. Our guide to Korean Botox brands explains the differences.

How does forehead Botox work, step by step?

The effect is mechanical rather than cosmetic: Botox does not fill or plump the skin. It reduces muscle movement, which reduces repeated folding. That has two consequences worth understanding before you book.

  • Dynamic lines respond best. Lines that appear only when you move your brows usually soften well after one treatment.
  • Static lines soften more slowly. Deep lines visible at rest may improve only partly. Your doctor may suggest pairing Botox with a skin booster or collagen treatment over time.
  • The forehead is linked to the brows. Because the frontalis is the only muscle that lifts the eyebrows, the dose and placement determine whether brows stay natural, drop or arch too high.

That last point is why forehead Botox is usually planned together with the frown lines between the brows. See forehead wrinkle treatments and frown line options.

In Seoul, many doctors favor a softer, lower-dose approach for the forehead. The goal is a smoother surface while keeping some lift and expression, rather than a completely still brow. If you have had a frozen or heavy result elsewhere before, tell the doctor at consultation so the plan can be adjusted to your preferences and anatomy.

Who is a good candidate for forehead Botox?

Usually a good fit

  • Adults with horizontal lines that show when raising the brows
  • People who want a smoother but still expressive forehead
  • Visitors who need a quick treatment with no visible downtime
  • Those already planning frown line or crow's feet Botox

Talk to the doctor first

  • Heavy or hooded upper eyelids, or low-set brows
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Neuromuscular conditions such as myasthenia gravis
  • Recent toxin treatment elsewhere, or a past poor response

If your brows already sit low, or you use your forehead to help open heavy eyelids, a full-strength forehead dose can make your eyes feel heavier. A careful doctor may use a lighter dose, keep injections higher on the forehead, or advise against it.

What happens on treatment day

  1. English consultation. A licensed doctor watches you raise, frown and relax your brows, checks eyelid position and agrees the toxin brand, dose and price with you.
  2. Marking. The doctor marks a small grid of injection points, usually staying well above the eyebrows.
  3. Injection. A very fine needle places small amounts of toxin into the muscle. Most people feel brief pinches; numbing is rarely needed.
  4. Check and cool. Small bumps at each point flatten within 10–20 minutes. A cool pack can be applied.
  5. Aftercare briefing. You receive simple written instructions in English before you leave.

How long does forehead Botox last? Results timeline

When What you may notice
Day 0 Small bumps and pinpoint redness that settle within minutes
Days 3–7 Lines begin to soften as the muscle relaxes
Week 2 Full effect; the best time to check symmetry
Months 2–3 Movement gradually returns
Months 3–4 Most of the effect has faded; time to plan a top-up

Duration varies with muscle strength, dose, metabolism and how expressive you are. Some people notice that results last a little longer after several regular treatments. Because the full effect arrives around day 14, many visitors schedule forehead Botox early in their trip so the doctor can review it before they fly. See the Botox results page for more detail.

Is forehead Botox safe? Side effects and risks

Botulinum toxin has a long safety record for cosmetic use when it is dosed and placed by a trained doctor. Most side effects are mild and short-lived.

  • Common: pinpoint bruising, mild tenderness or a brief headache.
  • Less common: brow heaviness, an uneven or overly arched brow (sometimes called a "Spock brow"), which can often be adjusted with a small top-up.
  • Uncommon: eyelid drooping if toxin spreads toward the muscles that open the eye. It is temporary but can last several weeks.
  • Rare: allergic reactions or more widespread effects. Seek medical help for any difficulty swallowing, breathing or speaking.

Recovery and aftercare after forehead Botox

There is no visible recovery for most people, but a few simple precautions in the first day help the toxin settle where it was placed.

  • First 4 hours: stay upright, avoid rubbing or massaging your forehead, and skip tight hats or headbands.
  • First 24 hours: avoid saunas, jjimjilbang, hot yoga and hard workouts, and limit alcohol.
  • Makeup: light makeup is usually fine a few hours later; apply gently.
  • Two-week review: if one brow sits higher than the other, a small adjustment is usually possible at the review.

Flying home? Cabin pressure does not affect Botox, and most people can fly the same or next day. The main reason to wait is to allow a two-week review if you want one. Read flying after Botox and fillers before you book your return.

  • Book ahead. Send your dates through our consultation form so we can hold a time that suits your itinerary.
  • Avoid your arrival day. Travel fatigue and delayed flights make day two or three a calmer choice.
  • Go early if you want a review. If you are staying 10–14 days, treat in the first few days so the doctor can check symmetry before you leave.

Frequently asked questions

How long does forehead Botox last?

Most people see results for about three to four months. Movement returns gradually, so many plan a top-up two to three times a year.

When will I see forehead Botox results?

Lines usually start to soften within 3–7 days, and the full effect appears at about two weeks.

Can forehead Botox make my eyebrows drop?

It can if the dose is too strong or placed too low, especially in people with low brows or heavy eyelids. A doctor-led assessment and conservative dosing reduce this risk.

How much is forehead Botox in Seoul?

At Dernia Clinic Myeongdong, one area starts from ₩39,000 with a Korean toxin, ₩79,000 with Xeomin and ₩99,000 with Allergan Botox, excluding 10% VAT.

Should I treat my forehead and frown lines together?

Often, yes. The forehead and frown muscles work against each other, so treating both helps keep the brows balanced. Your doctor will advise based on how your muscles move.
