Jaw Botox is one of the most requested treatments in Myeongdong, and the toxin brand you choose changes the price more than anything else. Here is how Korean and imported options compare, and how to decide which suits you.
At Dernia Clinic Myeongdong, jaw (masseter) Botox for both sides costs ₩59,000 with a Korean toxin such as Botulax or Nabota, ₩99,000 with Coretox, ₩199,000 with Xeomin and ₩290,000 with Allergan Botox, at a standard dose (KRW, excluding 10% VAT). Slimming builds over two to four weeks and lasts about four to six months. All of these are approved toxins; the main differences are price, origin and personal preference. A doctor checks your masseter strength and confirms the dose and price before treatment.
Prices are in Korean won, exclude 10% VAT and are confirmed by a doctor at consultation.
How much is jaw Botox in Myeongdong?
Jaw Botox, also called masseter Botox or square jaw Botox, relaxes the chewing muscle at the angle of the jaw. When that muscle is bulky, the lower face looks wide and square. As it relaxes over a few weeks, the jawline gradually tapers into a softer, slimmer shape. It is also sometimes used when people clench their teeth, although that is assessed medically at consultation.
At Dernia Clinic Myeongdong, jaw Botox is priced for both sides together, and the toxin brand is the biggest factor in the price. The dose is set by the doctor after examining how strong your masseters are. You can read more on our jaw Botox treatment page.

Korean vs imported toxin: what is the difference?
All toxins listed above are botulinum toxin type A products that work in the same basic way: they temporarily block the signal from nerve to muscle, so the muscle relaxes and, over time, becomes smaller. The differences come down to manufacturer, formulation, price and personal preference.
Korean toxins (Botulax, Nabota)
Korean-made toxins are widely used in Korean clinics and are the main reason jaw Botox is so accessible in Seoul. For many people, they are the natural first choice. Because they are the most affordable option, they also make regular maintenance easier to budget for.
Coretox
Coretox is a Korean toxin that is marketed as having fewer accessory proteins. Some people choose it if they have had several toxin treatments and want to minimize exposure to non-active proteins. It sits between standard Korean toxins and imported brands in price.
Xeomin
Xeomin, made by Merz in Germany, is a purified toxin without complexing proteins. It is sometimes chosen by people who have used it at home, or who prefer a toxin with a simpler formulation.
Allergan Botox
Botox by Allergan is the original US brand. Visitors who have only ever had Allergan Botox at home sometimes prefer to stay with what they know. It is the highest-priced option.
Brand alone does not determine your result. The dose, injection placement and the doctor's assessment of your anatomy matter just as much. For more background, see Korean Botox brands explained and is Korean Botox safe.
How to choose a toxin for jaw Botox
- First-time treatment: a Korean toxin is a reasonable starting point for many people, with the option to change brand later.
- Frequent treatments over years: discuss whether a toxin with fewer accessory proteins, such as Coretox or Xeomin, suits you.
- Continuity with home: if you have a good history with one brand, staying with it can make your results easier to predict.
- Budget: since results last four to six months, the yearly cost of maintenance matters as much as the price of one visit.
How many units does jaw Botox need?
Masseter muscles vary a lot in size. People who clench or grind their teeth often have larger muscles that need a higher dose. Rather than quoting by unit, Dernia prices a standard dose for both sides, and the doctor recommends a higher dose only if your muscles need it. Different brands are not dosed one-to-one, which is another reason to let the doctor set the plan. For more, read how many units of jaw Botox.
Jaw Botox yearly budget
Because results last about four to six months, most people repeat jaw Botox two to three times a year. With a Korean toxin at Dernia, that is roughly ₩118,000–₩177,000 per year before VAT for a standard dose. With imported toxins, the yearly cost is several times higher. Over time, the masseter can stay smaller with regular treatment, and some people find they need treatment less often, although this varies.
Is jaw Botox right for you?
Usually a good fit
- A square lower face from bulky masseter muscles
- Visible muscle bulge when clenching
- People who want gradual, natural slimming
- Visitors who want no downtime
Talk to the doctor first
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Neuromuscular conditions
- A wide jaw caused mainly by bone or fat rather than muscle
- Jaw joint (TMJ) problems, which need medical assessment
If fullness under the jaw is mostly fat rather than muscle, a different approach may help more. Compare options in jaw Botox vs fat-dissolving injection.
What happens on treatment day
- English consultation. The doctor asks you to clench, feels the masseter muscle and checks whether your jaw width comes mainly from muscle, fat or bone.
- Plan and price. You choose a toxin with the doctor's advice, and the dose and final price are confirmed before anything starts.
- Injection. A few small injections are placed into the lower, thickest part of each masseter, away from the smile muscles. It takes about 10 minutes.
- Aftercare. You receive written aftercare in English and can go straight back to sightseeing or shopping in Myeongdong.
Most people describe the injections as a quick pinch. Numbing cream is available on request. Photos taken before treatment are the easiest way to judge the change later, because slimming happens slowly enough that you may not notice it in the mirror day to day.
Side effects and safety
Jaw Botox is a quick, low-downtime procedure. Common effects include small injection marks, mild tenderness and occasional bruising. Some people notice chewing fatigue with tough foods for a few weeks. Less commonly, the smile can look temporarily uneven if toxin spreads to nearby muscles, and with repeated high doses some people notice slight hollowing below the cheekbones. These effects are temporary and are reduced by careful dosing and placement.
Flying home? Jaw Botox has no downtime, so you can usually fly soon after. Avoid massaging the jaw and lying flat for about four hours. Read can I fly after Botox for more detail.
