Thermage FLX in Korea: Benefits, Results, Recovery and Safety — Myeongdong, Seoul
Thermage FLX in Korea: Benefits, Results, Recovery and Safety — a guide for visitors in Myeongdong, Seoul.
Quick answer

Thermage FLX is a single-session radiofrequency (RF) treatment that tightens skin and stimulates new collagen on the face, eyelids, jawline and neck. In Korea it is popular with visitors because there is no real downtime: most people leave with mild redness that fades within hours and can fly home the next day. Results build over 2–6 months and commonly last 12–18 months. At Dernia Clinic Myeongdong in Seoul, Thermage FLX starts from ₩990,000 for 300 shots (KRW, excluding 10% VAT).

Treatment type Monopolar radiofrequency (RF)
Session time 45–90 minutes + numbing
Downtime None to minimal
Sessions Usually one; repeat every 12–18 months
Visible result ~1 month; peak at 3–6 months
Price in Seoul From ₩990,000 (300 shots)

Prices are in Korean won, exclude 10% VAT and are confirmed by a doctor at consultation.

What is Thermage FLX?

Thermage FLX is the fourth-generation Thermage system made by Solta Medical. It sends controlled radiofrequency heat into the deeper layers of the skin. That heat makes existing collagen fibers contract right away, then prompts your skin to build new collagen over the following months.

Unlike injectables or thread lifts, there are no needles and no incisions. A single-use treatment tip delivers each pulse while cooling the skin surface, so the outer skin is protected while the heat works underneath. The FLX system measures your skin before every pulse and adjusts the energy, which helps keep heating even across the face. You can read the full device explanation on our Thermage FLX treatment page.

Why visitors choose Thermage FLX in Korea

Seoul is one of the busiest places in the world for non-surgical lifting, and Thermage is among the treatments international visitors ask about most. A few reasons stand out:

  • One visit is usually enough. Thermage is normally a single session, which fits a short trip far better than treatments that need a series.
  • No visible recovery. You can go back to sightseeing, shopping or meetings the same day.
  • Clear, shot-based pricing. Korean clinics quote Thermage by the number of shots, so it is easy to compare plans like-for-like.
  • Easy to combine. Many visitors pair it with ultrasound lifting or a skin booster during the same stay.

Key benefits of Thermage FLX

1. Firmer, tighter-looking skin

Thermage is strongest on mild to moderate looseness — early jowls, a softening jawline, and skin that has started to feel less firm.

2. Smoother, less crepey texture

As new collagen forms, crepey areas on the cheeks, neck and eyelids often look smoother and reflect light more evenly.

3. Eyelid treatment without surgery

A smaller eye tip can treat the upper and lower eyelids, softening mild hooding and fine crepiness — an area few non-surgical devices can treat.

4. Natural, gradual change

Because results develop over months, people tend to say you look rested rather than “done.” For many visitors, that subtlety is the point.

Is Thermage FLX right for you?

Usually a good fit

  • Adults from their early 30s with mild to moderate laxity
  • Early jowls or a less defined jawline
  • Crepey skin on the eyelids, cheeks or neck
  • People who want no downtime during their trip

Talk to the doctor first

  • Heavy sagging or excess skin (a surgical opinion may suit better)
  • Pacemakers or other implanted electronic devices
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Active skin infection or a recent procedure in the same area

Thermage is not a facelift. If your concern is mainly volume loss, deep folds or muscle-driven lines, your doctor may suggest a different or combined approach. See sagging skin treatments and options for jowls.

What happens on treatment day

  1. English consultation. A licensed doctor checks your skin thickness and laxity, then agrees a shot plan and final price with you before anything starts.
  2. Cleansing and numbing. Topical numbing cream is applied for about 30–40 minutes.
  3. Grid marking. A temporary grid is drawn on the skin so every area is covered evenly.
  4. Treatment. The doctor passes the tip over each area. You feel short bursts of heat followed by cooling and gentle vibration; energy is adjusted to your comfort.
  5. Soothing. A calming mask or soothing care settles any redness before you leave.

Thermage FLX results: what to expect and when

Thermage works in two phases. Heat tightens existing collagen on the day, and then your skin spends several months building new collagen — that second phase is where most of the visible change comes from.

When What you may notice
Day 0 Slight firmness and a fresh look; mild pinkness that fades within hours
Week 1 Some day-one firmness softens; bony areas may feel a little tender
Month 1 Smoother texture and early firming along the jawline and cheeks
Months 3–6 Peak result for most people as new collagen matures
Months 12–18 Gradual return toward your natural aging curve — time to plan maintenance

These are typical ranges, not promises. Because your peak usually arrives after you are home, take photos before treatment and again at one, three and six months. See the full Thermage FLX results timeline and how long Korean lifting results last.

Recovery and aftercare

Recovery is one of the main reasons Thermage suits a Seoul trip. Most people have mild redness for a few hours and nothing more.

  • Same day: you can usually wear makeup and continue sightseeing.
  • First 1–2 days: skip saunas, jjimjilbang, very hot baths and intense workouts; keep skin hydrated.
  • Every day: use broad-spectrum sunscreen, since UV exposure breaks down collagen.
  • Possible but temporary: mild swelling, tenderness over the jaw or cheekbones, or a slight tingling for a few days.

Flying home? There are no wounds or injections, so most people can fly the next day. If you are combining Thermage with Botox or fillers, ask your doctor how to sequence them before your flight. Our aftercare guide covers this in English.

Is Thermage FLX safe? How to check before you book

Thermage FLX has a long safety record when it is performed by trained medical staff with genuine equipment. Serious side effects are rare, but they can include small blisters, temporary nerve sensitivity or, very rarely, uneven contour changes — which is why who performs the treatment matters as much as the device.

Use this checklist at any clinic in Korea:

  • Doctor-led consultation. A licensed medical doctor should examine your skin and set the plan — not a sales coordinator.
  • Genuine, sealed tip. Ask to see the new tip opened in front of you, and the shot counter at the end.
  • FLX, not an older system. Confirm the device is Thermage FLX rather than the older CPT system or a different RF brand.
  • Same shot count when comparing prices. A low headline price may be for fewer shots or a smaller tip.
  • Written aftercare in English. You should know exactly who to contact if anything feels unusual after you leave.

At Dernia, every plan is made by a licensed doctor — meet our medical team — and you can ask to see the sealed tip and final shot count.

Frequently asked questions

Does Thermage FLX hurt?

Most people describe brief bursts of heat that are uncomfortable but manageable. Numbing cream, built-in cooling and vibration make it easier, and the doctor can adjust the energy level during treatment.

How long does Thermage FLX last?

Results commonly last 12–18 months. Most people repeat a session on that cycle to maintain firmness as natural aging continues.

How many sessions of Thermage do I need?

Usually one. Collagen keeps building for two to six months after a single session, so there is no need for a series during your trip.

Can I fly home after Thermage FLX?

Yes. Thermage involves no injections or wounds, so most people can fly the next day. Mild redness usually fades within hours.

Is Thermage cheaper in Korea?

Seoul clinics compete closely and price by shot count, which often keeps prices competitive. When comparing, check the shot count, tip type and whether VAT is included. At Dernia, Thermage FLX starts from ₩990,000 for 300 shots before VAT.

Thermage or Ulthera — which is better?

They work at different depths. Thermage (RF) tightens and improves skin texture, while Ulthera (ultrasound) lifts from the deeper SMAS layer. Many people combine them; your doctor will recommend based on where your laxity sits.

Do you offer consultations in English?

Yes. Consultations, treatment plans and written aftercare are provided in English. See our international patients page.
