Quick answer

Korean collagen boosters are injectables that stimulate the skin to produce new collagen, gradually improving firmness, texture and volume in aging skin. The main options are PDLLA stimulators such as Juvelook (texture) and Lenisna (volume), PLLA such as Sculptra (deeper volume), and supportive boosters such as Rejuran Healer. Results build over two to three months and can last a year or more after a series. At Dernia Clinic Myeongdong in Seoul, Juvelook starts from ₩299,000, Lenisna from ₩490,000 and Sculptra from ₩590,000 (KRW, excluding 10% VAT).

What are collagen boosters?

Collagen is the main structural protein in the skin. It gives skin its firmness and helps it resist creasing. From our mid-twenties onward, collagen production slowly declines, and sun exposure, smoking and stress speed up that loss. The result is thinner, less firm skin, fine lines and, eventually, volume loss and sagging.

Collagen boosters are injectables designed to prompt your own skin to make more collagen. Instead of filling a space with gel, they act as a trigger: the body responds by sending repair cells called fibroblasts, which lay down new collagen over the following weeks and months. Because your own tissue does the work, results look natural and appear gradually.

How do collagen boosters work?

Most collagen stimulators contain biodegradable particles, such as PDLLA (poly-D,L-lactic acid) or PLLA (poly-L-lactic acid). Once injected, the particles create a controlled, low-level response in the tissue. As they slowly break down over months, new collagen forms around them. The particles disappear; the new collagen remains.

Other treatments described as boosters work differently. Polynucleotide products such as Rejuran Healer are thought to support skin repair rather than trigger collagen directly, and hyaluronic acid boosters mainly improve hydration. They are often used alongside collagen stimulators.

Which collagen boosters are used in Korea?

Treatment Ingredient Best for Sessions Price from (KRW)
Juvelook PDLLA + HA Texture, pores, fine lines, shallow scars 2–3 ₩299,000 (2cc)
Lenisna (Juvelook Volume) Higher-concentration PDLLA Soft volume in temples and cheeks 1–2 ₩490,000 (1 vial)
Sculptra PLLA Deeper volume loss and laxity 2–3 ₩590,000 (1 vial)
Rejuran Healer Polynucleotides Thin, fragile or sensitive skin 3 ₩259,000 (2cc)
Profhilo Stabilized HA Hydration and firmness 2 ₩390,000 (2ml)

Juvelook: collagen for skin quality

Juvelook combines PDLLA with hyaluronic acid. It is placed in the dermis to refine texture, fine lines, pores and shallow acne scars. It is a common first collagen booster for people in their thirties and forties. See Juvelook.

Lenisna: soft volume

Lenisna is a more concentrated PDLLA product placed deeper to restore soft volume in hollow temples, flattened cheeks and selected under-eye hollows. See Lenisna.

Sculptra: deeper volume and firmness

Sculptra, made by Galderma, uses PLLA and has the longest track record among collagen stimulators. It is used for more advanced volume loss and laxity, and results can last up to about two years after a series. See Sculptra.

How do I choose the right collagen booster?

The best choice depends on what aging looks like on your face:

  • Mostly texture and fine lines: Juvelook, possibly with an HA or PN booster.
  • Hollows in temples or cheeks: Lenisna or Sculptra.
  • Widespread volume loss with laxity: Sculptra, often combined with lifting devices.
  • Thin, sensitive skin: Rejuran Healer first, then a collagen stimulator if needed.

Collagen boosters vs HA filler

Hyaluronic acid filler gives an immediate, defined change and can be dissolved if needed. Collagen boosters give gradual, softer change that usually lasts longer but cannot be dissolved. Many people choose filler for precise contouring, such as the chin or lips, and collagen boosters for overall skin quality and broad volume. Read dermal filler vs Sculptra.

Who is a good candidate?

Usually a good fit

  • Adults noticing thinning skin, fine lines or mild volume loss
  • People who prefer gradual, natural change
  • Those who want longer-lasting results than HA alone
  • Patients able to wait two to three months for the full effect

Talk to the doctor first

  • History of nodules, keloids or granulomas
  • Autoimmune disease or a weakened immune system
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Need for an immediate result for an event

What results can you expect, and when?

Collagen boosters follow a similar timeline. In the first days, there may be swelling or small bumps, and with volumizing products some early fullness from the mixing fluid. That fullness fades within days. Real change builds from about four weeks, with clearer results at two to three months. After a full series, results commonly last 12 months or more, and Sculptra can last up to about two years.

These are typical ranges, not promises. Results vary with age, lifestyle, sun exposure and how many sessions you complete. See Sculptra results and Juvelook results.

Many people combine collagen boosters with energy-based lifting, because the two work on different problems: devices tighten and lift, while boosters rebuild the skin and soft tissue. Your doctor will explain how to space them safely.

Recovery and aftercare

  • Follow massage instructions exactly if given, especially after Sculptra.
  • Avoid saunas, hot baths, intense exercise and alcohol for a day or two.
  • Wait until the next day for makeup.
  • Use sunscreen daily to protect the collagen you are building.

Is it safe? Risks and side effects

Common effects are temporary swelling, tenderness, redness, small bumps and bruising. The main specific risk with PDLLA and PLLA products is nodules, small firm lumps that can form if the product clumps or is placed too superficially. Correct dilution, placement depth and massage reduce that risk. Because these products cannot be dissolved, experience matters.

As with any facial injection, there is a rare risk of injury to a blood vessel, particularly in the temples and around the eyes. Infection and allergic reactions are rare. Polynucleotide products are salmon-derived, so tell the doctor about any fish allergy. Read side effects and when to contact us.

How much do collagen boosters cost in Seoul (2026)?

At Dernia, Juvelook is ₩299,000 for 2cc and ₩549,000 for a 4cc full-face session. Lenisna is ₩490,000 for 1 vial and ₩890,000 for 2 vials. Sculptra is ₩590,000 for 1 vial, ₩1,090,000 for 2 vials and ₩1,590,000 for 3 vials. Because most plans involve more than one session, ask your doctor for a total plan cost at consultation.

Planning collagen boosters around your Seoul trip

Because sessions are usually spaced four to eight weeks apart, many visitors have the first session in Seoul and continue on a return trip. Your doctor can plan a sequence that suits your travel pattern.

  • Book ahead. Share photos and your dates through our consultation form.
  • Avoid your arrival day. Treat from day two onward.
  • Leave a buffer. Allow one to three days before photos or events.
  • Getting here. Dernia is in Myeongdong, near Myeongdong Station (Line 4) and Euljiro 1-ga Station (Line 2).

Flying home? Most people can fly the day after a collagen booster. Keep up any massage routine you were given and contact us if a firm or painful lump appears. Our aftercare guide explains more.
