Sinsa vs Myeongdong: which is better for skin treatments?

Sinsa-dong lies just south of the Han River in Gangnam-gu. Its tree-lined Garosu-gil street is known for boutiques and cafes, and the surrounding blocks host many aesthetic and plastic surgery clinics. Myeongdong, north of the river in Jung-gu, is central Seoul's shopping and hotel district and is close to Namsan, the palaces and Seoul Station.

For lifting and skin boosters, neither area has a monopoly. The same device families and booster brands are used across Seoul. What decides your experience is the clinic: a doctor who examines you, genuine equipment, clear units and good aftercare. Location then becomes a question of where you are staying and what else you want to do that day.

Lifting treatments: what are the options in Seoul?

Korean non-surgical lifting falls into two main groups. Ultrasound devices (often called HIFU) focus energy at deeper layers, including the SMAS, to lift. Radiofrequency (RF) devices heat the dermis to tighten skin and improve texture. Many clinics in Sinsa and Myeongdong offer both. See HIFU vs RF lifting for the full comparison.

Lifting device Type Typical duration of result Dernia price (KRW)
Ulthera Prime Micro-focused ultrasound About a year or longer From ₩390,000 (100 lines); ₩1,390,000 (400 lines)
Shurink Universe Focused ultrasound About 3–6 months From ₩149,000 (300 shots); ₩259,000 (600 shots)
Thermage FLX Monopolar RF Commonly 12–18 months From ₩990,000 (300 shots)
Oligio X Monopolar RF About 6–12 months From ₩390,000 (300 shots)
Titanium Lifting Combined-energy lifting About 3–6 months From ₩450,000 (full face)

Dernia does not currently offer Sofwave; ask at consultation about alternatives such as Ulthera Prime or Thermage FLX.

Skin boosters: how do the main options differ?

Skin boosters are injections placed in the skin to improve hydration, texture, fine lines and glow rather than to add volume. Both Sinsa and Myeongdong clinics offer several types. Learn more in skin boosters explained.

  • Rejuran Healer uses polynucleotides (PN) and is chosen for skin repair, fine texture and pores. At Dernia it starts from ₩259,000 for 2cc full face.
  • Juvelook combines PDLLA with hyaluronic acid to stimulate collagen gradually. From ₩299,000 for 2cc, or ₩549,000 for 4cc full face.
  • Hyaluronic acid boosters give quick hydration. From ₩99,000 for 2cc.
  • Skinvive by Juvéderm is a microdroplet HA product for smoothness and radiance. From ₩290,000 for one syringe (both cheeks).

Dernia does not currently offer Rejuran S or PDRN injections. The doctor can suggest alternatives, such as Rejuran Healer for scars and texture, or Potenza for acne scars.

Lifting or booster: which should you choose?

Lifting tends to suit

  • Early jowls or a softening jawline
  • Mild sagging of the cheeks or under the chin
  • People wanting one session per trip
  • Those who prefer no injections

Boosters tend to suit

  • Dull, dehydrated or thin skin
  • Fine lines, enlarged pores or crepey texture
  • People happy with a short series of sessions
  • Those wanting a fresh glow rather than lift

Many visitors combine both, often lifting first and a booster on the same day or soon after. A doctor will check whether the order and timing are right for your skin.

Results timeline: lifting vs skin boosters

Lifting and boosters work on different timelines, which matters when you only have a week or two in Seoul. Neither gives a dramatic change overnight, and the best result usually arrives after you are home.

  • Ultrasound lifting. Some people notice a slight firmness straight away, but the main lift develops over two to three months as the deeper tissue remodels.
  • RF tightening. Texture and firmness improve gradually, with a peak around three to six months for Thermage FLX.
  • Rejuran Healer. Skin quality tends to improve over a few weeks, and the effect builds with a series of about three sessions two to four weeks apart.
  • Juvelook. Collagen builds over two to three months, and most people plan two to three sessions.
  • HA boosters. Hydration shows within days and usually lasts about one to three months.

If you can visit Seoul more than once a year, you can align booster sessions with repeat trips. Otherwise, a single lifting session plus one booster session is a realistic plan for most visitors. See Rejuran Healer results for a more detailed timeline.

What to expect on treatment day

  1. English consultation. The doctor examines your skin and explains the plan, risks and exact price.
  2. Numbing. Topical cream for about 30–40 minutes for lifting and booster injections.
  3. Treatment. Lifting usually takes 20–60 minutes; booster injections about 15–30 minutes.
  4. Soothing. A calming mask or LED settles redness before you leave.
  5. Aftercare. Written instructions in English and a contact for questions.

Recovery, side effects and safety

Ultrasound and RF lifting usually leave mild redness, and sometimes tenderness along the jaw or temporary swelling. Rare risks include small burns, temporary nerve irritation or numbness. Boosters leave small injection bumps for one to three days and occasional bruising; collagen stimulators such as Juvelook can, uncommonly, form small nodules, which is why technique and dilution matter.

Talk to the doctor first if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active skin infection, an autoimmune condition, a tendency to keloid scarring, or take blood thinners. Avoid saunas, alcohol and intense exercise for a day or two after injections. Read side effects and when to contact us.

How much do lifting and boosters cost in Seoul (2026)?

Prices in Sinsa, Myeongdong and elsewhere depend on the device and tip, number of shots or lines, booster brand and cc, and whether VAT is included. Rather than compare districts, compare identical plans. These are Dernia's 2026 prices for popular combinations:

Plan Price (KRW)
Shurink Universe 600 shots, full face ₩259,000
Ulthera Prime 300 lines, lower face and jawline ₩1,090,000
Rejuran Healer 3cc, full face ₩359,000
Juvelook 4cc, full face ₩549,000
HA skin booster 4cc, full face ₩179,000

Prices exclude 10% VAT. The tourist VAT refund on cosmetic procedures ended on January 1, 2026 — see payment and tax. More on our 2026 price list.

Planning lifting and boosters around your Seoul trip

  • Book ahead. Send your dates through our consultation form; a doctor reviews your goals before you arrive.
  • Avoid your arrival day. Day two or three is better for injections and devices.
  • Getting here. Dernia is near Myeongdong Station (Line 4) and Euljiro 1-ga Station (Line 2). From Sinsa, take Line 3 to Chungmuro and change to Line 4, roughly 30–40 minutes. See location and directions.
  • Series boosters. If you cannot finish a series in Seoul, read what if you cannot finish a series.

Flying home? Lifting alone is usually fine the next day. After boosters, allow one to three days for bumps to settle and avoid pressing on your face during the flight. Our flying after injectables guide explains what to do.
