Nose Filler in Korea: Benefits, Serious Risks and Alternatives — Myeongdong, Seoul
Nose Filler in Korea: Benefits, Serious Risks and Alternatives — a guide for visitors in Myeongdong, Seoul.
Quick answer

Nose filler uses a firm hyaluronic acid (HA) gel to raise a low bridge, smooth a small bump or refine the profile without surgery. It takes about 15–30 minutes and usually lasts about 6–12 months. However, the nose has blood vessels connected to the eye and skin circulation, so the risk of vascular occlusion, skin necrosis and, very rarely, blindness is higher than elsewhere. Only an experienced doctor should perform it. At Dernia Clinic Myeongdong in Seoul, HA filler starts from ₩150,000 per cc (KRW, excluding 10% VAT).

Treatment type Firm hyaluronic acid filler
Typical volume Usually under 1cc
Treatment time 15–30 minutes
Downtime Mild swelling for 1–3 days
Risk level High-risk filler area
Price in Seoul From ₩150,000 per cc

Prices are in Korean won, exclude 10% VAT and are confirmed by a doctor at consultation.

What is nose filler?

Nose filler, sometimes called non-surgical rhinoplasty or a liquid nose job, uses a small amount of firm hyaluronic acid (HA) gel to change the shape of the nose without surgery. Filler can raise a low or flat bridge, add slight height to the tip, smooth the look of a small hump by filling above and below it, or improve the angle between the nose and forehead.

In Korea, a higher, straighter nasal bridge is a common aesthetic request, which is why nose filler is widely advertised. It is important to understand that filler can only add volume. It cannot make a nose smaller, narrow wide nostrils or fix breathing problems. See the non-surgical nose page and our dermal filler page.

Benefits of nose filler

  • No incisions or general anesthesia. Treatment is done under local numbing in a short appointment.
  • Immediate result. You see the change straight away.
  • Reversible. HA can be dissolved with hyaluronidase.
  • A preview. Some people use filler to see how a higher bridge looks before considering surgery elsewhere.

The serious risks of nose filler

This is the most important section of this guide. The nose has a rich network of small arteries, and some of them connect to the arteries that supply the eye. The skin on the nose, especially the tip, has a limited blood supply and little room for extra volume. This combination makes the nose one of the highest-risk areas for filler complications.

Vascular occlusion and skin necrosis

If filler enters an artery or presses on it, blood flow can be blocked. Without fast treatment, the skin supplied by that vessel can be damaged and, in severe cases, die (necrosis), leaving scarring. Warning signs include sudden severe pain, white or blanched skin, then a dusky, purple or mottled pattern.

Vision loss

In rare cases, filler can travel through connected vessels to the artery that supplies the eye. This can cause sudden partial or total vision loss, which may be permanent. It is very rare, but the nose and the area between the brows account for a large share of reported cases worldwide. Any eye pain, blurred vision or loss of vision after filler is an emergency.

Other risks

  • Spreading: filler can widen the bridge over time, especially after repeated treatments.
  • Lumps or irregularity: visible bumps or an uneven profile.
  • Infection or delayed nodules.
  • Higher risk after previous surgery: scar tissue and altered anatomy after rhinoplasty increase complication risk.

Nose filler should only be performed by a licensed doctor with detailed knowledge of nasal anatomy, using conservative volumes, slow injection and techniques chosen to reduce risk, with hyaluronidase immediately available. Read side effects and when to contact us.

Who should and should not consider nose filler?

Possibly suitable

  • A mildly low bridge with good, thick skin
  • A small hump that can be camouflaged
  • Healthy adults who accept the risks and want a subtle change
  • No previous nose surgery or permanent filler

Usually not recommended

  • Previous rhinoplasty or nasal implants
  • A wish for a smaller or narrower nose
  • Thin skin at the tip or a request for a large change
  • Pregnancy, breastfeeding or autoimmune conditions

A responsible doctor will sometimes advise against nose filler entirely. That is a sign of good care, not poor service.

Alternatives to nose filler

Option What it can do Main trade-off
Nose filler (HA) Small, temporary increase in bridge or tip height High vascular risk; lasts months
Chin filler Balances the profile so the nose looks smaller Lower risk area; does not change the nose itself
Forehead or brow balance Botox or other treatments that change overall proportions Indirect effect only
Surgical rhinoplasty Reduces, narrows or reshapes; can improve breathing Surgery and recovery; Dernia does not offer it

Profile balance often depends on the chin as much as the nose. A small amount of chin filler can make the nose look more proportionate with a lower risk. Dernia does not offer surgical rhinoplasty or nose threads.

What happens on treatment day

  1. Detailed consultation. The doctor examines your nose and profile, asks about previous surgery or filler, explains the risks in English and tells you honestly whether filler is advisable.
  2. Numbing. Topical numbing cream is applied; the filler contains lidocaine.
  3. Injection. A small amount is placed slowly, deep along the midline, often less than 1cc in total.
  4. Observation. The doctor checks skin color and your vision before you leave.
  5. Emergency briefing. You receive written warning signs and a contact number.

Nose filler results: how long does it last?

The change is visible immediately, though mild swelling can make the bridge look slightly wider for the first few days. The final shape is clear at about two weeks. Results usually last about 6–12 months as the HA is gradually broken down. Repeated treatments over years can cause the bridge to look wider, because some product may spread sideways. Many doctors therefore recommend conservative top-ups at longer intervals rather than building up volume quickly. See dermal filler results.

How to choose a clinic for nose filler

Because the stakes are higher than for most cosmetic injections, take extra care when choosing who treats your nose, in Seoul or anywhere else.

  • Licensed doctor only. Confirm the injector is a medical doctor, not a coordinator or aesthetician. Meet our medical team.
  • Emergency readiness. Ask whether hyaluronidase is on site and how the clinic handles a suspected occlusion.
  • Honest assessment. Be cautious of any clinic that promises a dramatic change or does not discuss risks.
  • Clear follow-up. You should have a direct contact for the days after treatment.

Recovery and planning around your Seoul trip

  • First 24–48 hours: do not press on your nose or wear glasses that rest on the bridge; avoid face-down sleeping.
  • First two weeks: avoid heavy glasses, facial massage and contact sports.
  • Watch closely: for the first few days, check the skin color of your nose and your vision. Contact the clinic immediately with any change.
  • Book ahead: use our consultation form; avoid your arrival day and your last days in Seoul.
  • Getting here: Dernia is near Myeongdong Station (Line 4) and Euljiro 1-ga Station (Line 2).

Flying home? Because early complications need fast treatment, plan to stay in Seoul for at least five to seven days after nose filler. Read flying after Botox and fillers.

Frequently asked questions

Is nose filler safe?

It is one of the highest-risk filler areas. Most treatments go smoothly, but vascular occlusion can cause skin damage and, very rarely, blindness, so only an experienced doctor should perform it.

Can nose filler make my nose smaller?

No. Filler only adds volume. It can make a nose look straighter or more balanced, but not smaller or narrower.

How long does nose filler last?

Usually about 6–12 months, depending on the product and your metabolism.

Can I have nose filler after rhinoplasty?

It is generally not recommended. Scar tissue and altered anatomy raise the risk of complications.

What are the warning signs after nose filler?

Severe pain, white or dusky skin, a mottled pattern, eye pain or any change in vision. These need emergency treatment immediately.

Does Dernia offer surgical rhinoplasty?

No. Dernia offers non-surgical treatments only. If surgery may suit you better, the doctor will explain that honestly.

Considering nose filler in Seoul?
