Rejuran I vs Under-Eye Filler: Which Is Better for Thin Under-Eye Skin? — Myeongdong, Seoul
Rejuran I vs Under-Eye Filler: Which Is Better for Thin Under-Eye Skin? — a guide for visitors in Myeongdong, Seoul.
Quick answer

For thin, crepey under-eye skin with fine lines, Rejuran I is usually the better first choice: it is a fine polynucleotide booster that supports skin quality without adding volume. Under-eye filler suits a true hollow or tear trough groove, but on very thin skin it can show as puffiness or a bluish tint, and it carries rare but serious risks such as vascular occlusion. Many people start with Rejuran I. At Dernia Clinic Myeongdong, Rejuran I starts from ₩189,000 (1cc) and tear trough filler from ₩290,000 (1cc), excluding 10% VAT.

Rejuran I Fine polynucleotide booster for eye skin
Under-eye filler Soft hyaluronic acid for hollows
Best for Thin, crepey skin vs true volume hollows
Sessions Rejuran I 2–3; filler usually 1
Downtime Swelling 1–2 days vs 2–5 days
Price in Seoul From ₩189,000 vs from ₩290,000

Prices are in Korean won, exclude 10% VAT and are confirmed by a doctor at consultation.

Rejuran I vs under-eye filler: which problem are you treating?

The right choice depends less on the product and more on what is actually causing your tired look. Under-eye concerns usually fall into three groups:

  • Thin, crepey skin. The skin itself is fragile, finely lined and shows the dark color of muscle and vessels underneath. This is a skin-quality problem.
  • A hollow or tear trough. There is a groove or loss of volume between the lower eyelid and cheek, which casts a shadow. This is a volume problem.
  • Bags. Fat pads push forward and create puffiness. Adding volume often makes this worse.

Rejuran I(also called Rejuran Eye) is designed for the first group. Under-eye filler is designed for the second. For the third, see under-eye bags; neither is usually the first answer. Many people have a mix, which is why a doctor's examination matters.

What is Rejuran I and how does it help thin skin?

Rejuran I is a finer polynucleotide (PN) formula from Pharma Research, made for the delicate skin around the eyes. It is injected in tiny amounts across the lower eyelid and sometimes the crow's feet. Rather than filling, it supports repair and thickness, which can:

  • Soften fine lines and crepey texture
  • Make the skin feel firmer and less papery
  • Reduce the see-through effect that makes darkness more visible

It is usually given as two to three sessions two to four weeks apart, with mild swelling for a day or two. Because it does not add volume, it rarely causes the puffy or overfilled look that worries many people about filler. See the Rejuran Eye treatment page.

What is under-eye filler and when does it make sense?

Under-eye (tear trough) filler uses a small amount of soft hyaluronic acid to lift a groove or hollow so it casts less shadow. When the anatomy is right, a single session can change how rested you look. Results commonly last about nine to twelve months.

But the under-eye is one of the most technically demanding areas of the face. On very thin skin, filler placed too superficially can show through as a bluish tint (often called the Tyndall effect), and HA can attract water and look puffy. The doctor may recommend a very small volume, a cannula, or improving skin quality first. Read more on our under-eye filler page.

Is under-eye filler safe? Serious risks to understand

Under-eye filler is performed safely every day, but it is a high-risk area and you should understand why before booking anywhere.

  • Vascular occlusion. If filler enters or compresses a blood vessel, it can block blood flow to the skin. Signs include sudden pain, blanching or mottled skin. Very rarely, vessels around the eye connect to the blood supply of the eye itself, and blockage can affect vision, including permanent vision loss. This is rare but serious, and it is why the doctor's anatomy knowledge, technique and emergency readiness matter.
  • Bluish tint or puffiness. More likely on thin skin or with too much product.
  • Lumps or migration. Usually manageable, and HA can be dissolved with an enzyme.
  • Bruising and swelling for several days, which affects travel photos.

Rejuran I carries lower structural risk because it does not add volume, but bruising, bumps, infection and allergic-type reactions are possible. People with a fish or salmon allergy should tell the doctor. Both treatments should wait during pregnancy, breastfeeding or active eye-area infection. See side effects and when to contact us.

Which is better for you?

Rejuran I is often the better start

  • Skin looks thin, crepey or finely lined
  • Darkness shows through the skin rather than from a groove
  • You want no added volume or puffiness
  • You can do two or three sessions

Filler may be considered, carefully

  • A clear tear trough groove or hollow
  • Reasonable skin thickness to cover the product
  • No significant fat bags
  • You accept the bruising and rare serious risks

Some people do both in stages: Rejuran I first to improve the skin, then a very small amount of filler later if a hollow remains. Compare them in detail in under-eye filler vs Rejuran Eye, or explore dark circle treatments.

Be cautious of any plan that offers filler without first examining you in person. A good doctor will sometimes advise against filler altogether, and that advice is a sign of care rather than a missed sale. Under-eye results also depend on lifestyle factors such as sleep, allergies and sun exposure, which no injection can fully override.

What happens on treatment day

  1. Assessment in English. The doctor examines your under-eyes in different lighting and positions to separate skin quality, hollowness and bags.
  2. Numbing. Topical numbing cream is applied; filler products often also contain local anesthetic.
  3. Treatment. Rejuran I is placed in tiny points; filler is placed in small amounts, often with a cannula.
  4. Check. The doctor checks skin color and circulation before you leave.
  5. Aftercare. Cold compresses, sleeping slightly elevated, and a contact number if anything changes.

Planning under-eye treatment around your Seoul trip

  • Allow bruising time. If you choose filler, schedule it early in your trip so bruising can fade before important photos or flights.
  • Stay nearby for review. For filler especially, it is wise to remain in Seoul for several days so the doctor can check you if needed.
  • Avoid your arrival day and avoid alcohol for 24–48 hours before and after.
  • Location. Dernia is in Myeongdong, near Myeongdong Station (Line 4) and Euljiro 1-ga Station (Line 2).
  • Book ahead through our consultation form with a clear photo of your under-eyes.

Flying soon after? Cabin pressure does not move filler, but swelling can be more noticeable on a long flight. Read flying after Botox, fillers and boosters and seek urgent care if you notice vision changes or severe pain.

Frequently asked questions

Is Rejuran I better than filler for dark circles?

If darkness comes from thin skin showing what lies beneath, Rejuran I is often the better first step. If it comes from a hollow casting a shadow, filler may help more. Many people have both causes.

What is the biggest risk of under-eye filler?

The most serious risk is vascular occlusion, where filler blocks a blood vessel. It is rare but can damage skin and, very rarely, affect vision, so the treatment should be done by an experienced doctor.

How many Rejuran I sessions do I need?

Usually two to three sessions, two to four weeks apart, with maintenance later.

Can under-eye filler be reversed?

Hyaluronic acid filler can usually be dissolved with an enzyme if there is a problem or you dislike the result.

Will Rejuran I make my under-eyes puffy?

It does not add volume, so lasting puffiness is uncommon. Mild swelling for a day or two is normal.

How much does each cost at Dernia?

Rejuran I starts from ₩189,000 for 1cc and tear trough filler from ₩290,000 for 1cc of Korean soft HA, both excluding 10% VAT.
