Skin Botox vs Rejuran: Which Is Better for Large Pores? — a guide for visitors in Myeongdong, Seoul.
Quick answer

Skin Botox is usually better for large pores driven by oil and shine: diluted toxin placed just under the surface reduces oil and makes pores look smaller within one to two weeks, lasting about two to three months. Rejuran Healer is better when pores look stretched because skin has lost elasticity; it supports repair and thickness over a three-session series. Many people with both causes combine them. At Dernia Clinic Myeongdong in Seoul, skin Botox starts from ₩129,000 (full face) and Rejuran Healer from ₩259,000 (2cc), excluding 10% VAT.

Why do pores look large?

Before comparing treatments, it helps to know what makes pores look big. There are usually three overlapping causes:

  • Oil. Active oil glands keep pores full and shiny, and the opening looks wider. This is common in younger skin and in the T-zone.
  • Lost elasticity. As collagen and elasticity decline with age and sun exposure, the skin around each pore sags slightly and the pore stretches into an oval or teardrop shape, often on the cheeks.
  • Texture and scarring. Old acne inflammation can leave pores with damaged walls and an uneven surface.

Skin Botox mainly addresses the first cause. Rejuran mainly addresses the second. Neither is a strong answer to the third on its own. Our large pores page covers all options.

How does skin Botox reduce pores?

Skin Botox, also called micro Botox, uses a diluted botulinum toxin placed in tiny droplets just under the skin surface rather than deep in the muscle. At this level, it is thought to reduce the activity of oil glands and tiny muscle fibers attached to the skin. The practical effects are:

  • Less shine and oiliness through the day
  • Smaller-looking pores and a smoother, more matte surface
  • A subtle softening of fine lines without freezing expression

Results usually appear within one to two weeks and last about two to three months, so people who love the effect often repeat it three or four times a year. Full details are on our skin Botox treatment page.

How does Rejuran help pores?

Rejuran Healer is a polynucleotide (PN) skin booster from Pharma Research in Korea. It does not control oil. Instead, it is associated with supporting the skin's repair environment, so the skin around pores becomes thicker, firmer and more elastic over a series of sessions. When the surrounding skin is firmer, stretched pores tend to look tighter and rounder.

The standard plan is three sessions two to four weeks apart, with maintenance about every six months. Doctors often place extra product in areas where pores are most visible, which is why some people choose the 3cc plan. See the Rejuran Healer treatment page.

Which is better for your pores?

Skin Botox is usually the fit

  • Oily or combination skin with midday shine
  • Pores that look large mainly on the nose and forehead
  • You want quick results on a short trip
  • You are comfortable repeating every few months

Rejuran is usually the fit

  • Teardrop-shaped pores on the cheeks
  • Thin, tired or less elastic skin
  • Sensitive skin that reacts easily
  • You can do a series of sessions

Many people have both oily pores and declining elasticity. In that case, doctors in Seoul often combine skin Botox with a booster in the same visit or stage them. If your pores come with rough texture or shallow scars, a collagen-building option such as Potenza or Juvelook may be added. Compare a related option in skin Botox vs HA skin booster.

Daily habits matter too. Gentle cleansing, non-comedogenic moisturizers, regular sunscreen and avoiding harsh scrubs all help pores look better between treatments, and they protect whatever result you get in Seoul.

What happens on treatment day

  1. English consultation. A licensed doctor looks at your pores in good light, asks about oiliness and sensitivity, and recommends a plan with a final price.
  2. Numbing. Topical numbing cream for about 20–30 minutes.
  3. Injection. Skin Botox is placed as tiny superficial droplets across the treatment area. Rejuran is placed in many small points, with extra where pores are most visible.
  4. Soothing. Cooling or a calming mask settles redness.
  5. Aftercare. Written English aftercare and a contact if anything feels unusual.

Is it safe? Risks and side effects

Both treatments are widely used in Korea and generally well tolerated when performed by trained doctors. Common, temporary effects include redness, small bumps, mild swelling and occasional bruising.

  • Skin Botox: if toxin spreads to nearby muscles, it can occasionally cause temporary weakness, for example a slightly stiff smile, which wears off as the toxin fades. Correct dilution and placement reduce this risk.
  • Rejuran: the PN is salmon-derived, so tell the doctor about any fish allergy. Rejuran also stings more than many boosters; see does Rejuran hurt.
  • Not suitable now: pregnancy or breastfeeding, active skin infection or acne flare in the area, and some neuromuscular conditions for toxin treatments.

Skin Botox uses the same toxin family as wrinkle Botox. For more on safety and brands used in Korea, read is Korean Botox safe.

  • Short trip: skin Botox fits easily, with results showing within one to two weeks, often by the time you are home.
  • Longer stay: a Rejuran series of three sessions works for stays of several weeks or repeat visits.
  • Combination day: skin Botox and a booster can often be done together; your doctor decides.
  • Avoid your arrival day to leave room for flight delays.
  • Location: Dernia is in Myeongdong, near Myeongdong Station (Line 4) and Euljiro 1-ga Station (Line 2).
  • Book ahead through our consultation form.

Flying the next day? Skin Botox and Rejuran are generally fine before a flight. Avoid rubbing your face, skip heavy makeup for the first day and keep hydrated in the cabin. See can I fly after Botox.

Frequently asked questions

Does skin Botox really shrink pores?

It does not physically shrink the pore structure, but by reducing oil and refining the surface it can make pores look noticeably smaller for about two to three months.

Is Rejuran good for pores?

Rejuran can help pores that look stretched because the surrounding skin has lost elasticity. It works gradually over a series rather than giving an instant change.

Can I combine skin Botox and Rejuran?

Yes. Many people with both oily and inelastic pores combine them, either on the same day or staged. Your doctor will advise.

How long does skin Botox last?

Usually about two to three months, so many people repeat it three or four times a year.

Will skin Botox freeze my face?

It is placed superficially and in diluted form, so normal expressions are preserved. Rarely, temporary stiffness can occur if it spreads to nearby muscles.

What are the prices at Dernia?

Skin Botox starts from ₩129,000 for the full face with Korean toxin, and Rejuran Healer from ₩259,000 for 2cc, both excluding 10% VAT.

Not sure what is behind your large pores?
