Quick answer

Skin hydration injections in Korea usually last between one and six months, depending on the product. A basic hyaluronic acid (HA) skin booster typically lasts about one to three months, the Chanel injection (NCTF 135HA) about three to six months, and Skinvive and Profhilo about six months. Results last longer after a series and with daily sun protection. At Dernia Clinic Myeongdong in Seoul, an HA skin booster starts from ₩99,000 and Skinvive from ₩290,000 (KRW, excluding 10% VAT).

Treatment type Hydrating injectables (mainly HA)
Shortest lasting Basic HA booster, about 1–3 months
Longest lasting Skinvive and Profhilo, about 6 months
Downtime Small bumps for 1–2 days
Maintenance Every 2–6 months, by product
Price in Seoul From ₩99,000 (HA booster, 2cc)

Prices are in Korean won, exclude 10% VAT and are confirmed by a doctor at consultation.

What are skin hydration injections?

Skin hydration injections place small amounts of hydrating material, most often hyaluronic acid (HA), into the skin. HA is a molecule your body already makes, and it can hold many times its weight in water. Injected into the dermis, it helps skin hold water from within, so it looks plumper, smoother and more luminous.

In Korea these treatments go by many names, including skin boosters, water-glow injections and water-light injections. They are different from fillers, which use firmer gel to add volume and shape. See skin boosters explained for an overview.

How long do skin hydration injections last?

Longevity depends mainly on the type of HA and how it is formulated. Lighter, non-crosslinked HA is broken down faster; stabilized or specially formulated HA lasts longer.

Treatment Typical sessions Results usually last Price from (KRW)
HA skin booster Often 3, 2–4 weeks apart About 1–3 months ₩99,000 (2cc)
Chanel injection (NCTF 135HA) Best as 3, 2–4 weeks apart About 3–6 months ₩220,000 (3ml)
Skinvive Usually 1 About 6 months ₩290,000 (1 syringe)
Profhilo 2, about 4 weeks apart About 6 months ₩390,000 (2ml)

These are typical ranges, not guarantees. Two people having the same treatment can see different durations, and the visible glow often peaks a week or two after treatment before gradually settling.

Basic HA skin boosters

A basic HA skin booster uses light, non-crosslinked HA spread across the face in tiny amounts. Skin looks hydrated within days, but the effect fades over about one to three months. A short series usually gives a more even and slightly longer-lasting result than one session. See our HA skin booster page.

Chanel injection (NCTF 135HA)

The Chanel injection is a Korean nickname for NCTF 135HA, a Filorga product that combines non-crosslinked HA with vitamins, amino acids and antioxidants. The name has no connection with the fashion house. After a series of three, the glow commonly lasts about three to six months. See Chanel injection.

Skinvive and Profhilo

Skinvive uses HA microdroplets for smoothness, usually in one session. Profhilo uses high-concentration stabilized HA over two sessions. Both commonly last about six months. Compare them in Skinvive vs Profhilo.

Why hydration fades gradually, not suddenly

Injected HA does not switch off on a particular day. The body breaks it down a little at a time, so most people notice their skin slowly returning toward its usual feel rather than a sudden change. That gradual fade is why many people book a maintenance session when they first notice skin feeling less plump, instead of waiting until the effect has gone completely. Starting maintenance a little early generally keeps results more consistent and can mean fewer sessions overall.

It also helps to separate glow from structure. Hydration-based glow fades within months, while treatments that stimulate collagen, such as Juvelook, build structural change that lasts longer but takes longer to appear. Some people combine both for an early glow and a longer-term improvement. See Juvelook for the collagen-building approach.

What affects how long results last?

  • Product type. Stabilized and microdroplet HA products tend to last longer than light boosters.
  • Number of sessions. Completing the recommended series usually extends results.
  • Sun exposure. UV accelerates the breakdown of HA and collagen.
  • Climate. Very dry or cold climates and air-conditioned environments draw water from the skin.
  • Lifestyle. Smoking, poor sleep and high alcohol intake can shorten results.
  • Metabolism and age. Some people simply break down HA faster.
  • Skincare. A barrier-supporting routine helps skin hold water between treatments.

How to make hydration injections last longer

  1. Complete the series. If a product is designed for two or three sessions, the full series usually gives longer results.
  2. Use sunscreen daily. Broad-spectrum protection is the single most useful habit.
  3. Support your barrier. Use a gentle cleanser and a moisturizer that suits your skin type.
  4. Avoid over-exfoliating. Strong acids and scrubs used too often dry the skin.
  5. Plan maintenance. Book top-up sessions before results fully fade, rather than starting from scratch.

Your doctor can also suggest a simple maintenance calendar at consultation, so you know roughly when to book your next session in Seoul or at home.

Who is a good candidate?

Usually a good fit

  • Dry, dull or dehydrated skin
  • People wanting glow without changing face shape
  • Visitors preparing for an event or wedding
  • Those happy to plan regular maintenance

Talk to the doctor first

  • Allergy to HA products or lidocaine
  • Active acne, cold sores or skin infection
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Expecting permanent results from one session

Is it safe? Risks and side effects

Hydration injections are among the gentlest injectable treatments. Common effects include small bumps that settle within one to two days, mild redness, tenderness and occasional pinpoint bruising. Less common effects include lumps that take longer to settle or a temporary acne flare. Infection and allergic reactions are rare.

Because the product is placed superficially and in small amounts, the risk of serious vascular complications is much lower than with volumizing filler, but treatment should still be performed by trained medical staff. For a day or two afterward, avoid saunas, hot baths, intense exercise and alcohol, and wait until the next day for makeup. Read is there downtime after skin boosters?

How much do skin hydration injections cost in Seoul (2026)?

At Dernia, an HA skin booster costs ₩99,000 for 2cc, ₩179,000 for 4cc and ₩249,000 for 6cc. The Chanel injection is ₩220,000 for 3ml. Skinvive is ₩290,000 for one syringe treating both cheeks and ₩540,000 for the full face. Profhilo is ₩390,000 per 2ml syringe.

When comparing value, consider cost per month of results rather than the price of one session. A cheaper booster repeated every two months can cost more over a year than a longer-lasting option repeated twice.

Prices exclude 10% VAT. The tourist VAT refund on cosmetic procedures ended on January 1, 2026 — see VAT refund in 2026.

Planning hydration injections around your Seoul trip

If you visit Seoul only once or twice a year, a longer-lasting option such as Skinvive may fit your travel rhythm better than a booster that needs frequent top-ups. If you are staying longer, a series of HA boosters or Chanel injections is easy to schedule.

  • Book ahead. Share your dates through our consultation form.
  • Avoid your arrival day. Treat from day two, once you have rehydrated after the flight.
  • Getting here. Dernia is in Myeongdong, near Myeongdong Station (Line 4) and Euljiro 1-ga Station (Line 2).

Flying home? Most people can fly the next day. Cabin air is very dry, so apply moisturizer before and during the flight. Read flying after boosters.
