Combining Thermage FLX and Ulthera Prime is one of the most requested lifting plans in Seoul. This guide explains what the combination costs, why doctors pair them, and when one device alone is enough.
Thermage FLX and Ulthera Prime work at different depths, so combining them targets both skin tightness and deeper lift. At Dernia Clinic Myeongdong in Seoul, Ulthera Prime costs ₩1,390,000 for a 400-line full face and Thermage FLX costs ₩1,690,000 for 600 shots, or ₩990,000 for 300 shots. Prices are in KRW, exclude 10% VAT and are confirmed by a doctor. The combination is often worth it for moderate laxity in people who visit once a year, but one device may be enough for mild changes.
Prices are in Korean won, exclude 10% VAT and are confirmed by a doctor at consultation.

Why combine Thermage and Ulthera?
The two devices use different energy and work at different depths, so they complement rather than duplicate each other.
- Ulthera Prime uses micro-focused ultrasound with real-time imaging. It places heat at precise depths, including the SMAS, the supportive layer lifted in a surgical facelift. It is mainly about lift.
- Thermage FLX uses monopolar radiofrequency to heat the dermis evenly over a wider area. It is mainly about tightening and skin quality, such as crepey texture and firmness.
Together, they aim to lift from below and tighten from above. That is why the pairing is often described as a two-layer approach. Read our full guide to combining Thermage and Ulthera, or compare them one-to-one in Thermage FLX vs Ulthera Prime.
Is the combination worth the cost?
It depends on your face and how often you visit Seoul. The combination tends to offer the most value when:
- You have moderate laxity with both sagging (jowls, a softening jaw) and skin-quality changes (crepey, less firm skin).
- You visit Seoul about once a year and want one comprehensive session that lasts until your next trip.
- You want the most from a non-surgical approach before considering surgery.
It may not be worth it when your changes are mild, when your main concern is volume loss rather than laxity, or when your face is very slim. In those cases, one device, or a different treatment altogether, may give a better result for less. A licensed doctor will tell you honestly if a single treatment is enough.
The combination often suits
- Adults in their 40s and beyond with moderate laxity
- Jowls plus crepey skin on the cheeks or neck
- Once-a-year visitors wanting one comprehensive session
- People who want a stronger non-surgical result
One device may be enough if
- Your changes are mild or you are in your early 30s
- Your main concern is texture only (Thermage) or lift only (Ulthera)
- Your face is very slim with little soft tissue
- Volume loss, not laxity, is the main issue
How to think about the cost of combining
The combination is a significant investment, so it helps to frame it against how long results last. Because both devices are usually done once a year, the yearly cost is roughly the cost of one combined session. Compare that with lighter treatments, such as Shurink Universe, that may need two or three sessions a year to maintain a similar look. You can also scale the combination: a lower-face Ulthera plan with a focused Thermage plan costs less than two full-face plans, and may be all you need if your concerns sit mainly along the jawline. Ask the doctor to show you two or three plan options at different budgets.
Same day or separate days?
Both approaches are used. Many visitors have both treatments in one appointment, which is convenient on a short trip. Others prefer to split them across two days or two trips. Your doctor decides the order and timing based on your skin, comfort and schedule. Doing both on the same day means a longer session and more total heat, so energy settings are adjusted accordingly. Splitting them across two trips spreads the cost and lets you judge the first result before committing to the second, though you lose the convenience of a single visit.
What happens on treatment day?
- Consultation in English. A licensed doctor examines your face, confirms whether the combination suits you and agrees the plan and final price.
- Numbing. Numbing cream is applied for about 30–40 minutes.
- Ulthera Prime. Using real-time imaging, the doctor places lines at the planned depths. You feel brief, deep heat, especially over bone.
- Thermage FLX. A sealed tip is opened and the doctor treats the face in a grid. You feel pulses of heat followed by cooling and vibration.
- Soothing. Calming care settles redness. Allow about three hours in total.
Results timeline and how long the combination lasts
Some firmness may be visible early, but most of the change develops as new collagen forms. Ulthera results typically peak at two to three months and often last about a year or longer. Thermage results build over two to six months and commonly last 12–18 months. Many people repeat the combination about once a year. See the Ulthera Prime results timeline and Thermage FLX results timeline.
Is it safe to combine Thermage and Ulthera?
The combination is widely used, but it is still two energy treatments, so planning matters. Common effects include redness, swelling and tenderness along the jaw and cheekbones for a few days. Less common are small bruises, welts, bumps or tingling. Rare risks include burns, blisters, temporary nerve irritation and, in slim faces, loss of soft tissue that makes hollows more noticeable. These risks are why a doctor should assess your face and set energy for both devices.
The combination is not suitable during pregnancy, and Thermage is not used in people with pacemakers or implanted electronic devices. Read who should not get lifting treatments.
Planning a combined lifting session around your Seoul trip
- Book ahead. Send your goals and dates through our consultation form so we can reserve enough time for both devices.
- Avoid your arrival day. A combined session is long; day two or three is usually best.
- Getting here. Dernia is in Myeongdong, near Myeongdong Station (Line 4) and Euljiro 1-ga Station (Line 2).
- VAT. The tourist VAT refund on cosmetic procedures ended on January 1, 2026, so add 10% VAT. See our VAT guide.
Flying home? Neither treatment involves wounds or injections, so most people fly the next day. Expect some tenderness for a few days. Our aftercare guide explains what to avoid.
