Under-Eye Skin Rejuvenation in Korea: Treatments and Risks — Myeongdong, Seoul
Under-Eye Skin Rejuvenation in Korea: Treatments and Risks — a guide for visitors in Myeongdong, Seoul.
Quick answer

Under-eye rejuvenation in Korea depends on the cause. Thin, crepey skin is often treated with Rejuran Eye, a polynucleotide booster. Hollows may be treated with soft tear trough filler, which carries serious but rare risks such as vascular occlusion. Small fat bags may respond to Agnes RF, and pigment-related dark circles to toning lasers. At Dernia Clinic Myeongdong in Seoul, Rejuran Eye starts from ₩189,000, under-eye filler from ₩290,000 and Agnes RF for eye bags is ₩549,000 (KRW, excluding 10% VAT).

Why does the under-eye area age early?

The skin under the eyes is among the thinnest on the body, with little fat beneath it and constant movement from blinking and expression. With age, the skin thins further, the fat pads that support the lower lid can shift or bulge, and the bony support of the eye socket changes. Genetics, sun exposure, allergies and lack of sleep add to the picture.

The result can include crepey skin, fine lines, hollows (tear troughs), puffiness or bags, and dark circles. Each has a different cause, so the right treatment for one can be wrong for another. That is why the most important step is a careful diagnosis by a doctor.

What causes my under-eye concern?

Concern Usual cause Options at Dernia Price from (KRW)

Which under-eye treatments are used in Korea?

Rejuran Eye for thin, crepey skin

Rejuran Eye, also called Rejuran I, is a finer polynucleotide formula designed for the under-eye area. It aims to support skin repair and thickness, softening crepey texture and fine lines. It does not add volume. Most people plan two to three sessions. See Rejuran Eye.

Tear trough filler for hollows

Soft hyaluronic acid filler can soften hollows and the shadow they cast. Only a small amount is used, usually 0.5–1cc in total for both eyes. Results last about 9–12 months. It is effective but technically demanding, and it carries the most serious risks of any under-eye treatment. See under-eye filler.

Agnes RF for small fat bags

Agnes RF uses ultra-fine insulated needles that release radiofrequency energy only at the tip, allowing the doctor to target small fat pads behind under-eye bags. It is an option for people with small bags who want to avoid surgery, with swelling for two to five days. Larger bags may need a surgical opinion.

Lasers for pigmented dark circles

Brown, pigment-related dark circles may lighten gradually with toning lasers over a series. Bluish circles caused by visible blood vessels or thin skin respond less well to lasers.

Is under-eye treatment safe? Understanding the risks

Under-eye treatments can be very effective, but this area deserves extra caution.

Serious risks with under-eye filler

Vascular occlusion is the most serious risk of any filler. If filler enters or compresses a blood vessel, it can block blood flow to the skin, causing skin damage. Around the eyes, vessels connect to the circulation of the eye, and in very rare cases blocked flow can cause vision loss or blindness. This risk is rare, but it is real, and it is the main reason under-eye filler should only be performed by an experienced doctor who knows the anatomy, uses careful technique and has hyaluronidase available to dissolve filler immediately.

  • Seek help immediately for severe pain, skin blanching or a mottled color, or any change in vision after filler.
  • Other filler risks include lumps, a bluish tint (the Tyndall effect) if filler sits too superficially, prolonged swelling and filler migration.

Other treatment risks

  • Rejuran Eye: swelling, small bumps and bruising for a few days; rare infection or allergic reaction. Tell the doctor about any fish allergy.
  • Agnes RF: swelling and bruising for several days; rare risks include temporary irregularity or pigment change.
  • Lasers: temporary redness; rarely, pigment changes, especially on tanned skin. Eyes must be protected with shields.

How to lower your risk

You cannot remove risk entirely, but you can reduce it by choosing carefully:

  • Doctor-performed treatment. A licensed doctor should examine you and perform the procedure, not delegate it.
  • Conservative amounts. Under-eye filler should be subtle; more product means more risk of lumps, swelling and complications.
  • Known products. Ask which product is being used, and see it before treatment.
  • Emergency readiness. Ask whether hyaluronidase is available on site for filler complications.
  • Time to follow up. Avoid treatment the day before a flight, so the clinic can see you if anything feels wrong.

Our questions to ask at your consultation guide gives a full checklist.

Who is a good candidate?

Usually a good fit

  • Crepey skin or mild hollows with good skin quality
  • Small, soft fat bags without heavy excess skin
  • Realistic goals: looking rested, not changed
  • Willingness to follow aftercare and avoid rubbing

Talk to the doctor first

  • Large bags or significant excess skin (consider surgery)
  • Persistent puffiness or fluid swelling
  • Previous filler that has not fully dissolved
  • Eye infection, recent eye surgery, pregnancy or breastfeeding

What happens on treatment day

  1. English consultation. A licensed doctor examines your eyes in different lighting and positions to identify the cause.
  2. Planning. The doctor explains options, risks and price before anything is agreed.
  3. Numbing. Numbing cream is applied for about 20–30 minutes.
  4. Treatment. Performed with a fine needle, cannula or device, depending on the plan.
  5. Cooling and check. A cold pack limits swelling, and the doctor checks the area before you leave.

Recovery and aftercare

  • Sleep with your head slightly raised for the first night or two.
  • Avoid rubbing or pressing the area, and avoid contact lenses for the rest of the day if advised.
  • Skip saunas, hot baths, intense exercise and alcohol for a few days.
  • Use sunscreen and sunglasses outdoors.

Frequently asked questions

What is the safest under-eye treatment?

Skin-quality treatments such as Rejuran Eye carry lower risk than filler because they do not add volume. The safest option is the one that matches your actual cause, chosen by a doctor.

Can under-eye filler cause blindness?

Very rarely, yes. If filler blocks a blood vessel connected to the eye's circulation, vision loss can occur. This is why under-eye filler must be performed by an experienced doctor with hyaluronidase on hand.

What helps crepey under-eye skin?

Rejuran Eye is commonly used to support repair and thickness of thin under-eye skin, usually over two to three sessions.

Can non-surgical treatments remove eye bags?

Small fat bags may improve with Agnes RF. Larger bags with excess skin usually need a surgical opinion.

How long should I wait before flying after under-eye filler?

It is wise to leave a few days so the doctor can review you in person if needed.

How much is Rejuran Eye at Dernia?

Rejuran Eye starts from ₩189,000 for 1cc covering both under-eyes, excluding 10% VAT.
