What is ONDA lifting?

ONDA is a device from the Italian company DEKA that uses Coolwaves, a microwave technology. Microwaves pass through the skin surface and are absorbed mainly in fat and the deeper connective tissue. The resulting heat can reduce small fat pockets and tighten the fibrous network that supports the skin, while a cooled handpiece protects the surface.

Because it works on fat and tissue beneath the skin, ONDA is often chosen for a full or heavy lower face, under-chin fullness and early jowls, rather than for skin texture alone. Read more on our ONDA lifting treatment page.

Why is ONDA priced by joules?

Joules measure the total energy delivered. A larger area, or more passes on the same area, needs more energy, so pricing by joules links the cost directly to how much treatment you actually receive. It is a similar idea to shots on Shurink or lines on Ulthera, but measured as energy instead.

When comparing quotes in Seoul, check the joule total, not only the area named. Two plans both called lower face may deliver quite different amounts of energy. Our guide to shots, lines and cc explains the main pricing units used in Korea.

ONDA cost by treatment area

Under the chin or jawline: 30,000 J

This is the entry plan, best for a small area of fullness under the chin or a soft jawline on one zone. It suits people who want a cleaner angle under the jaw without treating the whole lower face.

Lower face: 60,000 J

The most common facial plan. It treats the jawline, under the chin and the lower cheeks together, aiming for a slimmer, more defined lower face.

Lower face with extra passes: 90,000 J

For a fuller lower face or more noticeable jowls, extra energy allows additional passes where fullness is greatest.

Small body areas: 150,000 J

ONDA can also be used on small body areas such as the upper arms. Body areas are larger and need more energy, so the plan is priced accordingly. Your doctor confirms whether the area is suitable before quoting.

Is ONDA right for you?

Usually a good fit

  • Fullness under the chin or a heavy lower face
  • Early jowls with some soft tissue
  • Small stubborn body areas such as the upper arms
  • People who want a no-needle option with little downtime

Talk to the doctor first

  • Very lean faces with little fat, where fat reduction may cause hollowing
  • Metal implants or electronic devices near the area
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Skin infection, open wounds or recent filler in the area

If looseness rather than fullness is the issue, ultrasound or RF lifting may suit better. See treatments for jowls.

How many ONDA sessions do you need?

Many people see a change after one session, but two or three sessions spaced several weeks apart are common for a stronger result. Results build gradually over four to eight weeks as treated fat is cleared and tissue tightens. If you visit Seoul once, plan one session and review the result at home before deciding on more. The ONDA results timeline describes what to expect week by week.

ONDA vs InMode: which is better for the lower face?

Both target the lower face, but in different ways. ONDA uses microwave energy and is priced by joules. InMode combines Forma RF skin warming with Mini FX for small fat areas, priced per session and best done as a series. ONDA is often chosen when fullness is the main concern; InMode suits people who can attend several sessions. Compare them in ONDA vs InMode lifting.

What happens on ONDA treatment day?

  1. English consultation. A licensed doctor examines the area, pinches the tissue to judge how much is fat and how much is skin, and agrees the joule plan and price with you.
  2. Marking. The treatment zone is marked so energy is spread evenly and kept away from areas that should not be treated.
  3. Treatment. Oil or gel is applied and the cooled handpiece moves continuously over the area. You feel deep warmth that builds gradually; the doctor watches skin temperature and your comfort throughout.
  4. Cool-down. The area is cooled and soothed. Mild redness and swelling are normal straight afterward.

A lower-face session usually takes 20–40 minutes of treatment time. Numbing is not always needed, but you can ask for it.

What affects your final ONDA price?

  • Total joules. The main factor. More area or extra passes add energy and cost.
  • Number of areas. Treating under the chin and the jowls together is usually more cost-effective than treating them on separate visits.
  • Number of sessions. Plan for one session on a short trip; more can follow on later visits.
  • VAT. Add 10% VAT to listed prices.

Side effects and safety

  • Common and temporary: warmth, redness and mild swelling, especially under the chin, for a few days.
  • Less common: tenderness, firmness or a lumpy feeling in the treated area that settles over a few weeks.
  • Rare: burns, temporary numbness, or uneven fat reduction. Careful energy settings and a doctor's assessment reduce these risks.

Tell the doctor about any filler, threads, implants and medications. Removing too much fat from a naturally slim face can make it look older, so plans should be conservative.

Planning ONDA lifting around your Seoul trip

  • Book ahead. Send your dates and concerns via our consultation form.
  • Avoid your arrival day. Book from day two; swelling under the chin is easier to manage when you are rested.
  • Getting here. Dernia is in Myeongdong, near Myeongdong Station (Line 4) and Euljiro 1-ga Station (Line 2).
  • VAT. Tourist VAT refunds on cosmetic procedures ended on January 1, 2026. See our VAT guide.

Flying home? ONDA has no needles or wounds, so flying the next day is usually fine. Mild swelling may last a few days. Read our aftercare guide before you leave.
