Potenza RF Microneedling Results: Timeline and What to Expect

Quick answer: Potenza RF microneedling causes 2–4 days of redness and fine marks, then skin looks smoother within a few weeks. Scars and pores improve gradually over a course of about three sessions spaced around four weeks apart, and collagen keeps remodeling for months afterward. At Dernia Clinic Myeongdong, Potenza is often combined with boosters for better texture.

Potenza results timeline

Potenza, made by Cynosure, combines fine microneedles with radiofrequency energy delivered at the needle tips. The needles create tiny channels while the RF heats the dermis at a chosen depth. That combination triggers collagen remodeling beneath scars and pores with less surface injury than ablative lasers. Potenza can also be used to deliver skin boosters into the skin during the same session.

When What you may notice What is happening
Day 0 Redness, warmth and mild swelling; pinpoint marks RF energy heats the dermis through the needles
Days 1–4 Redness fades; faint grid marks may remain briefly Micro-channels close and heal
Weeks 1–2 Smoother, fresher-looking skin; light flaking possible Early repair
Week 4 Next session is due Collagen production is active
After 3 sessions Shallower scars, finer pores, smoother texture Cumulative remodeling
Months 3–6 after the last session Continued gradual improvement New collagen matures

What improves and what doesn't

Usually improves

  • Rolling and boxcar acne scars
  • Enlarged pores and oily, uneven texture
  • Mild skin laxity, as a secondary benefit
  • Some active acne, when your doctor uses settings designed for it

Usually does not change

  • Narrow, deep ice-pick scars on their own
  • Pigmentation and melasma
  • Significant sagging
  • Volume loss

Factors that influence your results

  • Scar type: broad rolling scars often respond best; ice-pick scars may need targeted techniques.
  • Depth and energy: your doctor adjusts needle depth and energy to your skin and scars.
  • Number of sessions: three is a common course; deeper scarring may need more.
  • Combination: pairing with a collagen booster can improve texture further.
  • Medication: recent isotretinoin and some other medicines affect healing, so tell your doctor.

How to maximize and maintain your results

Potenza is a strong partner for collagen-stimulating boosters. The Collagen Rebuild Package combines it with Juvelook for scars, pores and texture. Our guide to building an acne scar treatment plan explains how to sequence treatments.

  • Use only gentle cleansing and moisturizer for the first two days.
  • Avoid makeup for about 24 hours, or as your doctor advises.
  • Skip saunas, swimming and intense exercise for a few days.
  • Use SPF 50 daily and keep breakouts under control.

Realistic expectations and when to repeat

Potenza gives steady, meaningful improvement with a few days of redness rather than a week of crusting. Scars soften but rarely disappear completely. Because sessions are spaced about four weeks apart, a full course needs either a longer stay or repeat visits; many visitors have the first session in Seoul and plan the rest around future trips. Prices are in Korean won (KRW), exclude 10% VAT, and are confirmed at your consultation.

Tracking your progress

Scar depth is easiest to see when light falls across the skin from the side, and much harder to judge under flat overhead light. Because collagen keeps remodeling for months, your three-month photo is far more useful than one taken a week after treatment.

  • Stand beside a window so daylight falls across your cheek.
  • Take close-ups of scarred areas from the same angle each time.
  • Photograph before each session and three months after the last.
  • Use bare skin with no primer, and keep the camera distance the same.

If your results aren't what you expected

Judge your result three months after the final session, as collagen is still remodeling before then. If scars still look similar, contact Dernia with your photos. Your doctor may suggest more sessions, different settings or adding another technique for stubborn scars. Browse our other results guides to compare treatments.

How many Potenza sessions do I need?

About three sessions, spaced around four weeks apart, is a common course. Deeper scars may need more.
