FAQ

Does Juvelook cause lumps?

Quick answer: Temporary bumps, yes; lasting lumps, uncommonly. Small raised bumps at the injection points are normal after Juvelook and usually flatten within 1–3 days. Persistent nodules can occur with any collagen-stimulating injectable, including Juvelook's PDLLA, but correct mixing, depth and even placement lower the risk. At Dernia Clinic Myeongdong, licensed doctors inject Juvelook, and any lump lasting over two weeks should be checked.

The detailed answer

Juvelook is a collagen-stimulating skin booster made by Vaim Global in Korea. It combines PDLLA (poly-D,L-lactic acid) microspheres with hyaluronic acid. The HA gives early hydration, while the PDLLA particles prompt your skin to build new collagen gradually over 2–3 months.

People mean two very different things by "lumps":

  • Injection bumps (normal): small raised wheals where the product was placed, a little like mosquito bites. They usually settle within 1–3 days as the product spreads and the fluid absorbs.
  • Nodules (uncommon): firm lumps that appear or persist weeks after treatment. With collagen stimulators, these can form when particles cluster in one spot, often because of uneven or too-superficial placement or a too-concentrated mix.

How the risk is kept low

Most nodule risk comes down to preparation and technique: reconstituting the product to the right dilution, letting it mix fully, placing it at the correct depth and spreading it evenly. Thin-skinned areas need particular care. Your doctor will also tell you whether gentle massage is advised afterward; follow their instructions rather than general advice online.

Thicker collagen stimulators such as Lenisna (Juvelook Volume) and Sculptra each have their own technique and aftercare. Compare them in Juvelook vs Sculptra.

What to do if you notice a lump

Do not squeeze it or massage it hard. Note when it appeared and take a photo in good light. If it lasts more than two weeks, gets bigger, or becomes painful, red or warm, contact the clinic so a doctor can examine it. Most nodules can be managed, and redness or warmth needs prompt review to rule out infection. Our guide to normal side effects vs when to contact us explains what to watch for.

What we recommend

Plan Juvelook early in your trip so the doctor can check your skin before you fly, and avoid saunas and pressure on the face for the first day or two. Juvelook is postponed during pregnancy or breastfeeding and with active skin infection. It starts from ₩299,000 for 2cc at Dernia. Prices are in Korean won (KRW), exclude 10% VAT, and are confirmed at your consultation. See the Juvelook price guide, the Juvelook results timeline and all treatments, or book a consultation to see whether it suits your skin.
