Skin Boosters Explained: PN, PDLLA, HA and Exosomes

Quick answer: Skin boosters are injectable treatments that improve skin quality rather than add volume. PN (Rejuran) supports repair, PDLLA (Juvelook) and PLLA (Sculptra) stimulate collagen, HA (Skinvive, Profhilo) hydrates, and exosomes support recovery after microneedling. At Dernia Clinic Myeongdong, boosters start from ₩99,000 for 2cc of HA (KRW, excluding VAT), with small bumps for 1–3 days.

What is a skin booster?

A skin booster is an injectable that improves the quality of your skin itself: hydration, thickness, elasticity, texture and glow. Unlike filler, it is not meant to change your shape, and unlike Botox, it does not relax muscles. Most boosters are placed as many tiny, shallow injections across the face, by hand or with an injector device, after numbing cream. Small raised bumps for a day or two are normal.

Who skin boosters suit

Boosters suit most adults who want healthier-looking skin without a change in shape: people in their 20s and 30s who want glow and prevention, people in their 40s and beyond whose skin is thinning or crepey, and anyone recovering from lasers or acne. They will not lift heavy sagging or replace lost structure on their own; for that, your doctor may pair them with lifting treatments or filler.

PN: Rejuran

Rejuran is made by Pharma Research and contains polynucleotides derived from salmon DNA. It supports the skin's natural repair processes and is popular for thin, sensitized or post-laser skin, fine texture and early acne scarring. Rejuran Healer treats the full face, while Rejuran Eye uses a finer formulation for the under-eye area. It works best as about three sessions. Tell your doctor if you have a fish allergy. PDLLA and PLLA: collagen stimulators

Juvelook, made by Vaim Global, combines PDLLA with HA for gradual collagen production and finer texture; Lenisna is a volumizing version. Sculptra (Galderma) uses PLLA for broader volume loss and requires massage afterward. Results build over two to three months and can last a year or more after a series. HA boosters: hydration

Skinvive by Juvéderm (Allergan) places HA microdroplets to smooth and hydrate the cheeks for around six months. Profhilo (IBSA) is a high-concentration HA injected at a few points per side that spreads through the tissue, usually as two sessions. A basic HA booster is an affordable hydration top-up lasting about one to three months. See Skinvive vs Profhilo.

Exosomes: an honest note

Exosome products are applied to the skin straight after microneedling or laser to support recovery and glow. They are popular in Korea, but the research is still developing, so think of them as a recovery booster rather than a stand-alone fix.

How long results last

Booster Typical longevity
Rejuran Healer Builds over 3 sessions; maintenance about every 6 months
Juvelook 12 months or more after a series
Sculptra Up to about 2 years after a series
Skinvive About 6 months
Profhilo About 6 months after 2 sessions
HA skin booster About 1–3 months
Chanel Injection About 3–6 months after 3 sessions

Choosing by concern

  • Dull, dehydrated skin: HA booster, Skinvive or Profhilo
  • Thin, sensitive or post-laser skin: Rejuran Healer
  • Texture and shallow acne scars: Juvelook or Rejuran
  • Crepey skin and mild volume loss: Sculptra, Lenisna or Profhilo
  • Fine lines under the eyes: Rejuran Eye

What a booster session is like

  1. Consultation to agree the product and amount, in cc or ml
  2. Cleansing and numbing cream for about 30–40 minutes
  3. Injections across the treatment area, usually 15–30 minutes
  4. Soothing and written aftercare; light makeup is usually fine from the next day

Boosters pair well with lasers and lifting. A common order is toning or lifting first, then the booster. The Glass Skin Package combines Rejuran Healer with Skin Botox and LDM.

Planning boosters around a trip

Bumps usually settle within 1–3 days, so book boosters early in your stay. Results build over weeks, which means you will see most of the change at home. If you can return, the next session is usually two to four weeks later. Read is there downtime after skin boosters?

Safety

Boosters are usually postponed during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with active skin infection, or around dental work. Blood thinners increase bruising. Your doctor confirms suitability. When you are ready, book a consultation or explore all treatments.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers from our medical team. Still unsure? Ask a doctor or browse all patient questions .

What is the difference between a skin booster and filler?

Filler adds volume to change shape, such as lips or cheeks. Skin boosters are placed shallowly across the face to improve hydration, texture and firmness without changing your features.

Which skin booster is best for glass skin?

For glow and hydration, HA boosters such as Skinvive are a common choice; for thin or sensitive skin, Rejuran is often added. Many plans combine a hydrating and a repairing booster over a few sessions.

How many sessions do I need?

Most boosters work best as two or three sessions spaced about two to four weeks apart, followed by maintenance every six months or so. Skinvive is often a single session.

Does Juvelook cause lumps?

Small bumps for a few days are normal. Persistent lumps are uncommon when the product is diluted and placed correctly. See does Juvelook cause lumps?

When will I see Rejuran results?

Many people notice smoother, calmer skin within two to four weeks, with the best result after a full series. See when will I see Rejuran results?
