What is Profhilo?

Profhilo is an injectable made by IBSA, a Swiss pharmaceutical company. It contains one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid (HA) available in an aesthetic injectable, combining high- and low-molecular-weight HA in a thermally stabilized form rather than a chemically cross-linked gel. That combination lets it spread through the skin like honey, hydrating evenly from just a few injection points.

IBSA describes Profhilo as a bio-remodeler. Beyond hydration, the HA is designed to support the skin's own collagen and elastin, so skin feels firmer and bouncier as well as plumper. How Profhilo works

Five points per side: on the face, the doctor injects at five standard points on each side, chosen to avoid major vessels and nerves.
Spreading: the product diffuses through the surrounding skin over the next day, so the small bumps disappear.
Hydration and remodeling: skin becomes better hydrated straight away, while firmness and elasticity improve over the following weeks.

Because there are so few injection points, the treatment is quick and the marks are minimal. On the neck, hands and décolletage, the doctor uses a different set of points adapted to that area's anatomy, but the principle is the same: a small number of deposits that spread on their own.

Profhilo improves skin quality, not structure. If you have noticeable volume loss, a collagen stimulator such as Sculptra or a filler is more appropriate. For deeper sagging, an energy-based lifting treatment is usually needed.

Downtime and aftercare

You will see small raised bumps at the injection points; they usually flatten within about 24 hours as the product spreads. Do not massage them. Small bruises are possible. For 24 hours avoid makeup on the injection points, saunas, alcohol and intense exercise. Use a gentle moisturizer and sunscreen.

Results: what to expect and when

Skin often feels more hydrated within a few days. Firmness and bounce build over the course, with the clearest result around four weeks after the second session. Results usually last about six months, after which many people have a single maintenance session. Expect fresher, more elastic skin rather than a dramatic change; it will not erase deep folds or lift heavy jowls. Sun protection and a consistent moisturizer help the result hold.
