Is there downtime after skin boosters?
Quick answer: Very little for most people: expect small raised bumps at the injection points for 1–3 days, plus occasional pinpoint bruising. After Rejuran Healer, most people go straight back to sightseeing, and light makeup is usually fine the next day. Downtime varies by product, from about 24 hours for Profhilo to up to 3 days for Juvelook. Dernia Clinic Myeongdong doctors explain what to expect for your plan.
- Typical downtime: Small bumps for 1–3 days
- Bruising: Possible; usually small and fades within about a week
- Makeup: Usually from the next day
- Sightseeing: Usually the same day
- Avoid for 24–48 hours: Saunas, intense exercise, alcohol and facial massage
- Best timing: At least 1–2 weeks before an event
The detailed answer
Skin boosters deliver small amounts of product into the skin through many tiny injections, either by hand or with an injector device. Each injection point can leave a small raised bump, a little redness and occasionally a bruise. These are signs of the treatment, not a problem, and they fade quickly.
| Skin booster | Typical downtime |
|---|---|
| Rejuran Healer | Small bumps for 1–3 days |
| Juvelook | Small bumps for 1–3 days |
| Profhilo | Small bumps for about 24 hours |
| Skinvive | Mild redness or bumps for 1–2 days |
| HA skin booster | Small bumps for 1–2 days |
| Exosome therapy | Redness for 1–2 days (with microneedling) |
What affects your downtime
- Skin type: thin or sensitive skin may show redness and bumps for longer.
- Bruising tendency: blood thinners, fish oil and alcohol can increase bruising. Never stop prescribed medication without your doctor's advice.
- Combinations: adding a laser or microneedling on the same day adds its own recovery.
- Area: swelling is more noticeable around the eyes; Rejuran Eye usually means 1–2 days of mild swelling.
Aftercare for the first 48 hours
Keep your face clean and avoid touching or pressing the bumps. Skip saunas, hot baths, intense exercise and alcohol for about 24–48 hours, and avoid facial massage or exfoliating products for a few days. Use gentle skincare and sunscreen. If you notice increasing pain, warmth or spreading redness, contact the clinic. Skin boosters are usually postponed during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and Rejuran is salmon-derived, so mention any fish allergy.
