Botox Results: Timeline and What to Expect

Quick answer: Wrinkle Botox usually starts working within 2–3 days, reaches its full effect at about two weeks, and lasts about 3–4 months as muscle movement gradually returns. At Dernia Clinic Myeongdong, it is used for forehead lines, frown lines and crow's feet, and the two-week mark is the right time to judge the result or discuss a touch-up.

Botox results timeline

Botulinum toxin temporarily relaxes the small muscles that create expression lines. In Korea, the word Botox is often used for any botulinum toxin, including Korean brands such as Botulax, Nabota, Coretox and Innotox and imported brands such as Botox (Allergan), Xeomin and Dysport. The timeline below is broadly similar across brands, though onset and feel can vary slightly.

When What you may notice What is happening
Day 0 Small bumps that fade within about 30 minutes; possible tiny bruise Toxin binds to nerve endings in the target muscle
Days 2–3 Lines start to soften; muscles feel slightly heavier Nerve signals to the muscle begin to reduce
Days 7–10 Most of the effect is visible Muscle relaxation increases
Day 14 Full effect; the right time to review Peak relaxation
Months 3–4 Movement gradually returns Nerve endings recover; plan your next session

What improves and what doesn't

Usually improves

  • Horizontal forehead lines
  • Frown lines between the brows, also called 11 lines
  • Crow's feet at the outer eyes
  • A slight brow lift, depending on placement

Usually does not change

  • Deep lines that remain when your face is at rest, at least not fully in one session
  • Volume loss, folds and sagging
  • Fine texture, pores and pigmentation
  • Under-eye hollows and dark circles

Factors that influence your results

  • Dose: stronger muscles, often in men, need more units. Too little wears off sooner.
  • Brand: Korean and imported toxins are all effective; your doctor chooses based on your goals and budget.
  • Static vs dynamic lines: lines that only show with movement respond best. Etched lines soften more gradually over repeated sessions.
  • Metabolism and activity: duration varies between people, and very active people sometimes notice a shorter effect, though evidence is mixed.
  • Frequency: using the lowest effective dose and not topping up too often reduces the small risk of developing resistance.

How to maximize and maintain your results

For lines that remain at rest, Botox is often paired with filler or a skin booster. You can usually have both in one visit; see can I get Botox and filler on the same day and Botox vs dermal filler. The Eye Rejuvenation Package combines Botox for crow's feet with Rejuran Eye, and the Men's Refresh Package adds HIFU and a facial.

  • Stay upright and avoid rubbing the area for about four hours.
  • Skip saunas, intense exercise and alcohol on the day.
  • Gently use the treated muscles in the first hours if your doctor suggests it.
  • You can usually fly the next day; see can I fly after Botox.

Realistic expectations and when to repeat

A good result looks relaxed, not frozen. Most people repeat treatment every three to four months, and some find the effect lasts a little longer after several regular sessions. If you visit Seoul twice a year, a session on each trip is a common rhythm. Current options by area and brand are on the Botox price page. Prices are in Korean won (KRW), exclude 10% VAT, and are confirmed at your consultation.

Tracking your progress

Expression lines are best compared with consistent expressions. Take photos before treatment and at two weeks.

  • Use the same window light and time of day.
  • Take each photo at rest, then raising your brows, frowning and smiling widely.
  • Keep the camera straight on and at eye level.
  • Take another set when you notice movement returning, to learn your own timing.

If your results aren't what you expected

Wait the full two weeks. If one side moves more, a brow sits too high, or lines remain, contact Dernia with your photos; small adjustments are usually made at this review point. If you notice a heavy or drooping eyelid, contact us promptly, as this uncommon effect is temporary and can sometimes be eased. Browse our other results guides to compare treatments.
