How the forehead changes with age

The forehead is moved by one broad muscle, the frontalis, which lifts your brows every time you look surprised or open your eyes wide. Years of that movement fold the skin into horizontal lines. Between the brows, the corrugator and procerus muscles pull inward and down to create frown lines, often called 11 lines. At the same time, the skin thins and the brows can drop slightly, which makes some people lift their forehead even more to keep their eyes open.

Common forehead concerns

Lines that only show when you move are dynamic and respond well to toxin. Lines that stay visible at rest have started to etch into the skin and may need a skin booster as well. Read more about forehead wrinkles, frown lines and fine lines.

At your consultation, the doctor watches you raise your brows, frown and relax. They note where your lines sit, how strong each muscle is, whether your brows are level and how much your upper eyelids hood. This is what decides the dose and the injection points, so two people with similar lines can need quite different plans.

Prices are in Korean won (KRW), exclude 10% VAT, and are confirmed at your consultation. Korean toxins such as Botulax, Nabota and Coretox keep the price low, while imported brands cost more. See the Botox price guide and Korean Botox brands explained.

Combining treatments

Botox relaxes the muscle, but it does not rebuild skin that has already creased. For lines visible at rest, your doctor may add Skin Botox for finer texture or a hyaluronic acid booster for hydration. If your brows sit low, Ulthera Prime can lift the brow area, and Botox is then dosed so the brows are not pulled down further. Energy treatments are usually done first, then injections.

Planning around your trip

Toxin takes 3–7 days to start working and about two weeks to peak. If you can, have it in the first days of your stay so your doctor can review the result and make a small top-up before you fly home.

Forehead safety notes

  • Brow heaviness: too much toxin in the lower forehead can make brows or upper eyelids feel heavy. Your doctor checks your brow position and lid hooding first.
  • Aftercare: stay upright for about four hours and avoid rubbing the area, saunas and hard workouts on the day.
  • Filler between the brows: this zone carries a higher risk of blocking a blood vessel, which is one reason toxin is usually the first choice for 11 lines.
  • Who should wait: toxin is not given during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or if you have a neuromuscular condition.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers from our medical team. Still unsure? Ask a doctor or browse all patient questions .

How many units of Botox does the forehead need?

It varies with your muscle strength, the width of your forehead and your brow position. Clinics in Korea usually price forehead Botox per area rather than per unit, and your doctor sets the dose at consultation.

When will I see the result?

Most people notice softening within 3–7 days, with the full effect at about two weeks. Results usually last 3–4 months.

Can I fly after forehead Botox?

Yes. Cabin pressure does not affect toxin, so flying the next day is generally fine. Read Can I fly after Botox? for practical tips.

Will my forehead look frozen?

It should not. The Korean approach uses modest doses that soften lines while keeping some natural movement. Tell your doctor how much expression you want to keep.

What if my forehead lines are still visible at rest?

Deep etched lines may not disappear with toxin alone. A skin booster or Skin Botox can improve the skin itself, and your doctor will explain what is realistic.
