Thermage FLX vs Oligio X at a glance

These two treatments belong to the same family. Both deliver monopolar radiofrequency (RF) to heat the deeper skin evenly, tighten existing collagen and trigger new collagen. Thermage FLX is the established original from the United States, and Oligio X is a Korean-developed system designed to deliver Thermage-style heating at a lower cost.

How Thermage FLX works

Thermage FLX, from Solta Medical, is the fourth generation of the original monopolar RF tightening system, first introduced in the early 2000s. Each pulse passes through a single-use tip into the deep dermis and the fibrous network beneath it. The FLX system measures the skin before every pulse and adjusts the energy to keep heating even, while cryogen spray and vibration protect the surface. Collagen tightens straight away and continues to rebuild for months. A dedicated eye tip allows treatment of the eyelids, and it is FDA-cleared for the non-invasive treatment of wrinkles, including around the eyes.

How Oligio X works

Oligio X is made by Wontech in Korea. It uses the same broad principle, monopolar RF that heats a volume of tissue rather than individual points, with a cooling system that protects the outer skin and helps comfort. It costs considerably less per session, and in practice it gives a lighter-to-moderate tightening effect that suits mild laxity, crepey texture and enlarged-looking pores, and many patients repeat it more often than Thermage.

One shot on Oligio X is not the same as one shot on Thermage. Tip size, energy per pulse and the number of passes differ, so a 300-shot plan on each device is a rough guide rather than an exact match.

Choose Thermage FLX if…

  • You want the strongest single RF session and the longest interval before repeating
  • You have visible crepey skin on the cheeks, eyelids or neck
  • You visit Seoul once a year and want one treatment to carry you through
  • You value the longest clinical track record of any RF tightening system

Choose Oligio X if…

  • Your laxity is mild and you want a gentler, more affordable start
  • You are in your late 20s or 30s and thinking about prevention
  • You can repeat treatment every six to twelve months
  • You want RF tightening as part of a wider plan, such as with skin boosters or Botox

Can you combine them?

There is little benefit in having both on the same area on the same day, because they do the same job. A sensible sequence is Thermage FLX once a year with Oligio X about six months later to top up collagen stimulation. Either can be paired with ultrasound lifting for deeper support. Oligio X also appears in our Eye Rejuvenation Package(from ₩449,000) alongside Rejuran Eye and Botox.

Cost comparison

At Dernia Clinic Myeongdong, Thermage FLX starts from ₩990,000 for 300 shots on the face, and Oligio X from ₩390,000 for 300 shots. Over a year, one Thermage session and two Oligio X sessions cost a similar amount, so the choice is less about price and more about whether you prefer one stronger treatment or lighter, regular sessions. How our doctors decide

Your doctor assesses skin thickness, the degree of laxity, your age and how often you can return to Seoul. Moderate laxity, crepey eyelids or a once-a-year visit usually points to Thermage. Early laxity, a preventive goal or a tighter budget often points to Oligio X. If your main issue is deeper sagging, your doctor may recommend ultrasound lifting instead or as well.

Neither is used if you have a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device, during pregnancy or over active skin infection. Read our honest Oligio X review, browse more treatment comparisons, or book a consultation and a licensed doctor will recommend the RF plan that fits your skin and schedule.

Frequently asked questions

Is Oligio X as good as Thermage FLX?

Oligio X uses a similar principle and can give a worthwhile tightening effect, especially for mild laxity. Thermage FLX generally delivers a stronger, longer-lasting result from one session. Which is better for you depends on your skin, goals and budget.

Does Oligio X hurt less than Thermage?

Many people find Oligio X comfortable thanks to its cooling, but heat sensitivity varies from person to person. Both use numbing cream, and your doctor adjusts the energy as you go.

How long does Oligio X last compared with Thermage?

Oligio X results commonly last about 6–12 months, while Thermage FLX lasts about 12–18 months. Collagen keeps building for a few months after either treatment.

Can Oligio X treat the eyes?

Yes, Oligio X can be used around the eyes with a suitable tip, and Thermage FLX has a dedicated eye tip for the eyelids. Your doctor will confirm which areas can be safely treated on the day.

Can I switch between Thermage and Oligio X?

Yes. Because both are monopolar RF, many people alternate them, for example Thermage once a year and Oligio X in between. Leave several months between RF sessions on the same area.
