Can I exercise after Thermage?
Quick answer: Yes. Light exercise such as walking is fine the same day after Thermage FLX, and most people return to normal workouts within about 24 hours. Thermage leaves no wound, but heat and heavy sweating can prolong redness or tenderness. At Dernia Clinic Myeongdong, we suggest skipping saunas, hot yoga and very intense sessions for about 24 hours. If you also had Botox or filler, follow their stricter rules.
- Same day: Walking and sightseeing are fine
- After about 24 hours: Most people resume normal workouts
- Avoid for 24–48 hours: Saunas, hot yoga, steam rooms and jjimjilbang
- Why: Heat and sweating can prolong redness or tenderness
- If combined with injectables: Avoid strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours
- Downtime: None to minimal (mild redness)
The detailed answer
Thermage FLX heats the deeper skin with radiofrequency while cooling the surface. There are no needles, cuts or open skin, so exercise does not damage the result or move anything out of place. The collagen-building process that creates your result carries on over 2–6 months whether you work out or not.
The reason for a short pause is comfort. Straight after treatment, your skin may be pink, warm or slightly tender, especially along the jawline. Hard exercise, saunas and hot rooms add more heat and blood flow, which can keep that redness around longer. Sweat on freshly treated skin can also sting.
| Activity | When it is usually fine |
|---|---|
| Walking, sightseeing, light stretching | Same day |
| Gym workouts, running, cycling | After about 24 hours |
| Hot yoga, saunas, steam rooms, Korean bathhouses (jjimjilbang) | After about 24–48 hours |
| Swimming in chlorinated pools | After about 24 hours, once redness has settled |
When the rules are stricter
Thermage is often combined with other treatments. If you had Botox, filler or skin boosters in the same visit, avoid strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours because of those injectables. If you also had Ulthera Prime, you may feel tender along the jaw for a few days, so ease back gradually. Our guide to combining treatments in one visit explains how aftercare stacks up.
What we recommend
Plan Thermage on a day when you can relax afterward, then return to your routine the next day. Drink plenty of water, use a gentle moisturizer and wear sunscreen outdoors. If redness, swelling or tenderness lasts more than a few days, contact the clinic. For more ideas that fit an active trip, see no-downtime treatments in Seoul or browse all treatments.

Can I sweat after Thermage?
Light sweating is fine. Rinse your face with cool water afterward and avoid very hot environments for about a day.
Does exercise make Thermage results fade faster?
No. Regular exercise does not shorten Thermage results. Sun protection, not smoking and a stable weight matter more for how long they last.
Does Thermage FLX hurt?
It feels like brief pulses of deep heat, eased by numbing and cooling. See does Thermage FLX hurt?
Can I go to a jjimjilbang after Thermage?
