Why the under-eye area changes

The lower eyelid has very thin skin over a ring of muscle, small fat pads and the bony rim of the eye socket. With age, the fat pads can push forward into bags while the cheek just below loses volume, which deepens the groove between them, known as the tear trough. The skin also thins, so blood vessels and muscle show through as a bluish or purple shadow. Genetics play a large part, which is why some people notice hollows or bags in their twenties.

Common under-eye concerns

Three concerns look alike in the mirror but need different treatment: under-eye hollows, dark circles and under-eye bags. A hollow casts a shadow, thin skin shows color, and a bag bulges outward. Your doctor checks you upright and in different lighting to tell them apart.

Combining treatments

Rejuran Eye and filler are often combined: filler supports the hollow while Rejuran improves the thin skin over it, so the result looks smoother. Under-eye safety notes

Vascular risk: vessels here connect with the circulation of the eye. Injecting filler into a vessel is rare but serious, including a risk to vision, so choose a doctor who treats tear troughs often.
Technique: many doctors use a blunt cannula, a soft HA filler and small amounts placed deep near the bone, with hyaluronidase on hand to dissolve filler if needed.
Warning signs: report severe pain, skin turning pale or dusky, or any change in vision immediately.
Less is more: overfilling can cause puffiness or a bluish tint under thin skin, so treatment may be staged.
Agnes swelling: allow 2–5 days before photos or a flight.

Is under-eye filler safe?

It is commonly performed, but it is one of the more delicate filler areas because the skin is thin and vessels connect with the eye. An experienced doctor, a cannula where appropriate, small amounts and hyaluronidase on hand all lower the risk. Your doctor will tell you if you are not a good candidate.

How long does tear trough filler last?

Usually about 9–12 months, depending on the product, the amount used and your metabolism. A small top-up is often enough to maintain it.

Should I choose Rejuran Eye or filler?

If your main issue is thin, crepey skin, Rejuran Eye is usually the first step. If you have a clear hollow, filler gives a more visible change, and many people benefit from both.

Can filler fix under-eye bags?

Usually not on its own. Filler can blend a mild bag into the cheek, but larger fat bags can look puffier with filler. Agnes RF, or a surgical opinion for significant bags, is more appropriate.

How soon can I fly after under-eye filler?
