  • Our verdict: A precise, long-lasting option for the right acne or eye-bag case; not a first step for everyone
  • Best for: Persistent, recurring acne in fixed areas; small under-eye fat pads with good skin tone
  • Not ideal for: Large bags with loose skin, mild occasional breakouts, short trips with photos
  • Comfort: Moderate; local anesthetic is used for most areas
  • Downtime: Swelling for 2–5 days; possible bruising
  • Value: Good when it works, because results can be long-lasting after 1–3 sessions
  • Price from: ₩249,000 (per area)

Our take on Agnes RF

This is our medical team's honest assessment of Agnes RF, a radiofrequency system from the Korean company Agnes Medical. It is an editorial review by our doctors, not a selection of patient reviews, and it explains when we recommend Agnes at Dernia Clinic Myeongdong. Our other assessments are on the expert reviews hub.

Agnes RF uses very fine needles that are insulated along their length, so radiofrequency energy is released only at the tip. That lets the doctor target one small structure at a precise depth. For acne, the target is the overactive oil glands behind recurring breakouts. For under-eye bags, the target is the small fat pads that bulge below the eyes. In our doctors' view Agnes is one of the most precise tools we have for these two problems. It is also more involved than a facial or toning, with swelling, some discomfort and the need for careful candidate selection.

Pros

  • Targets the cause. For acne it treats the oil glands behind breakouts rather than just calming the surface.
  • Long-lasting. Treated glands and fat pads typically do not return to their previous size, so results can last.
  • Few sessions. One to three sessions are usually enough.
  • Non-surgical eye bag option. Small fat pads can be reduced without incisions.
  • Precise. Energy is delivered exactly where it is needed, sparing surrounding skin.

Cons

  • Swelling. Two to five days of swelling is common, and it is noticeable under the eyes.
  • Bruising and tenderness. Small bruises or tender spots can last several days.
  • Discomfort. Local anesthetic is usually needed.
  • Limited for large bags. Significant bags with loose skin need a surgical opinion.
  • Not a cure-all for acne. Hormonal or widespread acne may still need medical treatment alongside.
  • Over-treatment risk. Removing too much under-eye fat can create a hollow, so conservative technique matters.

Who Agnes RF is best for

Our doctors recommend it for adults with persistent acne and breakouts that keep returning in the same areas despite good skincare and medical treatment, and for people with small, soft under-eye bags caused by fat rather than loose skin or fluid. You need a few days in Seoul without important photos.

Who should consider something else

  • Acne scars rather than active acne: RF microneedling remodels scars. See Potenza vs Agnes RF.
  • Mild or occasional breakouts: the Acne Clinic Program is a simpler first step.
  • Hollows rather than bags: under-eye filler fills a groove; Agnes reduces fat.
  • Large bags with loose skin: a lower eyelid surgery consultation may be more appropriate; we will tell you honestly.
  • Medical reasons: avoid it with a pacemaker or implanted electronic device, active infection in the area, recent isotretinoin use without doctor approval, keloid tendency, bleeding disorders or pregnancy.

Comfort and what it feels like

After numbing cream and usually local anesthetic, the doctor places the fine needle point by point. You will feel pressure, brief stinging and warmth. A session takes about 30 to 45 minutes. Afterward the area swells, peaking in the first two days and settling over two to five days; under-eye treatment can also cause bruising. Cold compresses, sleeping with your head raised and avoiding alcohol help. Read our guide to normal side effects and when to contact us.

Value for money

Agnes RF at Dernia starts from ₩249,000 per area; treating several acne zones or both eyes affects the total, as shown on the Agnes RF price page. Prices are in Korean won (KRW), exclude 10% VAT, and are confirmed at your consultation. Compared with years of recurring acne treatment, or with surgery for small bags, a short course can be good value when you are a suitable candidate.

Our verdict

Agnes RF is worth it for persistent, localized acne and small under-eye fat bags when you can allow a few days of swelling. It is not worth it for mild breakouts, hollows or large bags with loose skin. Browse our skin concerns guides to compare options, then book a consultation so your doctor can confirm whether fat, oil glands or something else is the real cause.
